摘要： The present invention discloses an image forming apparatus capable of making color reproductions. A plurality of developing portions are arranged around a photoreceptor which rotates in a predetermined direction. Developing units, which accommodate different kinds of developer, can be attached to the developing portions. Switches detect the attachment of at least one of the developing units. During a copying operation an electrostatic latent image is formed on an electroconductive drum and toner adheres to the electrostatic latent image by selectively operating the developing units.

摘要： A copying machine capable of color copying includes a filter apparatus for color-separating scanning light for scanning original images, and the original images are copied by electrophotographic process. The filter apparatus includes mirror filters having color separation filters of blue, green and red, respectively deposited on mirror surfaces and a half mirror, and these mirrors are arranged apart from each other at an angle of 90.degree., so that the apparatus as a whole has a cylindrical shape. The light scanned the original images is reflected by the filter mirrors, and latent electrostatic images corresponding to respective colors are formed on a photoreceptor drum.

摘要： An electrophotographic image forming apparatus for forming a color toner image by a developing device and fixing the toner image by a fixing device including top and bottom rollers. When OHP mode for forming images on transparency sheets is selected, the time required for fixing the toner image is prolonged so as to assure the transparency of the image fixed to a recording member. That is, if the size of the transparency sheet is larger than a predetermined value, the transparency sheet is sent to a returning path which returns the recording member discharged from the fixing device to the fixing device again, and if the size of the transparency sheet is smaller than the predetermined value, the fixing device is operated more slowly than a case of forming images on non-transparency sheets. Further, when the OHP mode is selected, heating power is supplied to both top and bottom fixing rollers, and when the OHP mode is not selected, the heating power is supplied to the top fixing roller only.

摘要： The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine and the like, and more in particular to the temperature control at a fixing unit thereof. In the image forming apparatus according to the present invention, the temperature of the fixing unit is controlled to be kept at the first set point by the processor in normal operation, and when the temperature of the fixing unit rises to come to reach the second set point as a result of the troubles in the processor, the temperature is made to drop by resetting the processor or by cutting off the current to the fixing unit by the function of the breaking circuit of the current from the power source. Consequently, the temperature of the fixing unit never rises even when the processor gets out of order. As a result, it is possible not only to prevent thermal damages of parts caused by temperature rise at the fixing unit, but also to aim at improving the quality of prints as well as carrying out power saving.

A first developing unit, an outline unit and a second developing unit, each of which can be attached to and detached from each of the mounting portions, are mounted in this order from the upstream side. When an outline mode is selected, colors of the developing units mounted on the downstream side of the outline unit are displayed on a display portion. When there is no developing unit on the downstream side, no color is displayed, and the copying operation in the outline mode is prohibited. If there is only one developing unit on the downstream side, the copying operation is started by pressing a copying key. If there are a plurality of developing units on the downstream side, a plurality of colors are displayed, and the copying operation is prohibited until one of those colors is designated.
