    摘要: In order to acquire a suitable fingerprint image by correcting an elongated fingerprint image, a line sensor acquires fingerprint image as a plurality of line-shaped images. A computation unit computes a similarity value by use of an evaluation function for evaluating the degree of similarity between the line-shaped images. The similarity value represents the degree of similarity between a first line-shaped image and a second line-shaped image which serve as a similarity evaluation target and are included in the plurality of the line-shaped image. A compression unit compresses the first line-shaped image and the second line-shaped image when the similarity value is equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold value to generate a new line-shaped image. A generation unit generates the entire fingerprint image by combining the new line-shaped image with the other line-shaped images.

    摘要: An image pickup device receives an incident light by way of the color filter that also transmits an infrared light component. For the purpose of correcting an infrared light component contained in an output signal, a control unit adds correcting infrared light components to image signals of multiple colors supplied from the image pickup device, respectively. To remove the infrared light components contained in the output signals, the correcting infrared light components are subtracted from the image signals of multiple colors supplied from the image pickup device. The control unit switches between an addition processing where an infrared light component is added and a subtraction processing where the infrared component is subtracted, according to a predetermined condition.

A display unit simultaneously displays both an image picked up by the first image pickup unit and an image picked up by the second image pickup unit on divided display regions, and naturally prompts a user to operate in such manner as to include himself/herself within an image pickup range. When the user moves his/her face or an authentication apparatus upon seeing this display, a relative position or direction of the iris and the image pickup device can be set to a desired state.

    摘要: An authentication apparatus includes an input unit which inputs information on a user's fingerprint, an enrolled-image storage which stores a plurality of enrolled images, namely a plurality of fingerprint images, to be verified against a fingerprint image generated by the input unit, and an authentication unit which authenticates the user's fingerprint in a manner such that verification of the fingerprint image against the plurality of enrolled images stored in the enrolled-image storage is performed sequentially in two stages. In the two stages in the verification performed in the authentication unit, enrolled images to be used in the subsequent stage are selected, in the earlier stage thereof, by verifying the fingerprint image against the plurality of enrolled images, and then the user's fingerprint is identified by verifying the fingerprint image against the selected enrolled images in the subsequent stage.

A load data selection unit reads recording setting data corresponding to a fingerprint image having a similarity value reaching or exceeding a predetermined value if the fingerprint image is held in the data holding unit, and reads certain data prepared in advance if not.

    摘要: A target detection apparatus detects a target object from within an image by utilizing reflection characteristics in both a visible light range and an infrared light range of the target object. Image pickup devices output a plurality of mutually different color components and an infrared light component from incident light. A control unit generates hue components for respective regions from the plurality of color components and determines whether the regions represent a target object or not by using the hue components and the infrared light component in the regions. Alternatively, the control unit performs a predetermined computation between each of at least two kinds of color components and an infrared light component and determines whether a region corresponding to the computed components represents a target object, according to the computation result.
