摘要:
In an optical recording medium having concave and convex type signal pits formed on a substrate surface, a reflection layer is formed on the signal pits in such a manner that a reflection index of an interior of the signal pits is higher than a reflection index at a periphery of the signal pits with respect to a given reproduction laser beam wavelength. In an optical recording medium having a phase change recording layer which reversibly changes optical states upon application of laser energy, a structural phase difference between a reflection beam of non-recorded regions and a reflection beam of recorded regions of the optical recording medium with respect to the wavelength of a reproduction laser beam is in a range of (0.5-1.5)+2 n.pi. radians, where n is an integer. The phase change recording layer has principle components of Ge-Sb-Te or Sb-Se.

An optical information recording medium, wherein concave and convex shaped guide grooves narrower in width W than the spot diameter of the laser beam is formed in the face of the recording film layer of a substrate, and the recording film layer undergoes optically detectable changes caused by the application of a laser beam thereto, the detectable changes being due to the changes in the optical phase of the reflected light or the transmitted light, and the changes in the optical phase being caused in the direction of reducing the optical phase difference between concave and convex portions of guide grooves disposed in the substrate.

The present invention relates to a recording and reproducing method and apparatus for an optical disk of the phase transition type that can be overwritten. According to this invention, the capacity of repeated rewriting of the optical disk is expanded by recording either non-inverted write data or inverted write data at random. The deterioration due to the repeated rewriting at a start point and an end point of the recording is suppressed by recording a synchronizing signal before the write data and/or dummy data after the write data in the way such that thermal stress is less likely to occur. A record end position can be determined precisely by detecting a stop pulse to stop recording.
摘要:
A recording and reproducing method and apparatus for an optical disk of the phase transition type is provided. This method comprises the steps of deciding at random to invert or not to invert write data that has a predetermined block length; inverting the write data if the decision is to invert the write data; and recording either the non-inverted write data or the inverted write data into the photo-sensitive record layer. A synchronizing signal is recorded before the write data and/or dummy data after the write data in the way such that thermal stress is less likely to occur. A record end position can be determined precisely by detecting a stop pulse.

A recording and reproducing apparatus for an optical disk of the transitional type that can be overwritten, having an optical information recording medium. The medium has a guide groove and a sector ID area. Information is recorded by irradiation with a light beam to change a state of a photo-sensitive record layer, and the recording may be stopped by the generation of a stop pulse. The stop pulse may be generated by an altered width of the guide groove before the sector ID area, or by one or more larger prepits before the sector ID area.

Tracking control is carried out by a push-pull method or by mechanical feed at the time of recording signals, and tracking control is carried out by a phase difference tracking method at the time of reproduction. Thus, a phase change type optical disk which enables phase difference reproduction and is erasable may be realized. In a phase change type optical disk having a phase difference reproduction structure, servo mechanism at the time of reproducing signals may be stably controlled by causing the reflectance of a blank portion to be higher than the reflectance of a recording mark portion.
