The image sensing apparatus comprises a cover driver for driving the protection cover; and a control circuit which determines whether the apparatus is set in a image sensing mode, or in an external control mode in which the apparatus is controlled by an external controller unit. The circuit determines an operation of the cover driver in accordance with a determination result.
