    Abstract: A rotary cutting tool has a central, longitudinal axis. One or more internal balancing features are disposed within a cavity of the rotary cutting tool. Each internal balancing feature includes a balancing mass suspended within the cavity by a spring-like element, and an adjusting screw for effecting radial movement of the balancing mass. Each internal balancing feature can be integrally-formed with the rotary cutting tool using a 3-D printing technique. The rotary cutting tool can be any rotary cutting tool, such as a milling cutter, a boring bar, and the like. The internal balancing features are arranged at predetermined locations within the rotary cutting tool to enable static and/or dynamic balancing of the rotary cutting tool.

    Abstract: Cutting tool systems including a cutting tool and cutting inserts are disclosed. The cutting inserts have indexable cutting edges and seating face features which enable uniform facets along a portion of each cutting edge of the indexable insert. The first and second seating face surfaces of the cutting insert each comprise control cavities that adjoin the cutting edge facet surfaces. Each control cavity allows its corresponding cutting edge to have a facet width that is defined by the cavity to provide uniform surfaces. The control cavities reduce and limit the amount of the first and second seating face surfaces that need to be ground. Methods of making such cutting inserts are disclosed.

    Abstract: A cutting insert (20) for a milling cutter (10) is described, wherein the cutting insert (20) comprises a first main surface (22) for abutment against a stop surface (24) oriented substantially perpendicular to the direction of rotation of the milling cutter (10), a second main surface (26) which is opposite to the first main surface (22), which comprises the cutting surface, and a lateral surface (28) which connects the first main surface (22) with the second main surface (26) and which comprises the free surface. The lateral surface (28) has at least one clamping section (38) by which the cutting insert (20) is clamped in a recess (18) in a tool body (12) by means of a clamping element (40), in particular wherein the cutting insert (20) is a turning cutting insert. It comprises a tool main body that has at least one interface for receiving a cutting insert that can be attached to the tool main body.     Abstract: A method for producing a cutting tool is described. This method includes the production of a tool body of the cutting tool by means of a generative production method. At least one coolant cavity that has, at least in segments, an essentially triangular cross section is in this case provided in the tool body. Moreover, a cutting tool produced by means of this method is presented. Also proposed is a cutting tool having at least one coolant cavity running therein, wherein the coolant cavity has, at least in segments, an essentially triangular cross section and the cutting tool is produced, at least in segments, by means of a generative production method.
