    摘要: A circumferential sealing assembly for use with a generally cylindrical, rotatable liquid metal reaction vessel and a hood which is provided to collect hot gases from the reaction vessel. The sealing assembly comprises a cable and a cable housing. The cable housing is connected to and extends along a circumferential edge or area of the hood. The cable itself extends along, at least partly outside, the cable housing. With one embodiment, the cable is in a tight pressure fit with the reaction vessel. With another embodiment, a sheath encloses an under portion of the cable and the cable pulls the sheath into a tight pressure fit with the reaction vessel.

    摘要: The invention is directed to a method of aligning a bearing assembly relative to a roll in a fiber-making machine. The method of the present invention is particularly adapted for dryer cylinders in a paper-making machine, the dryer cylinders having an end rotatably mounted in a preferably freely carrying bearing assembly such as a continuous aligning roller bearing (CARB) that allows for axial (z direction) movement of the cylinder particularly axial movement due to thermal expansion. The bearing assembly includes inner and outer races of which the outer race is stationary with the inner race is affixed to the journal and moves therewith. For axially aligning or providing an initial offset of the outer race to the inner race, an alignment plate is mounted to the end of the cylinder journal during bearing housing installation that allows various measurements to be taken.

    摘要: A converter for refining liquid metals having a cylindrical horizontally disposed vessel (1) with a first opening (6) for charging and pouring and a second opening (13) circumferentially and longitudinally displaced from the first opening for exhaust gases to escape, is disclosed. The circumferential displacement is sufficient to prevent liquid metal from pouring from the second opening (13) when the vessel is rotated from a first position for charging materials into the vessel (1) through the first opening (6) to a second position for pouring the contents of the vessel (1) from opening (6). Cool air is provided to a region between the vessel (1) and a jacket (15) surrounding the vessel (1). A hood (14) collects the exhaust gases from the second opening (13) in any position to which the vessel (1) is rotated when it is used. End and circumferential seals structures are provided where hood (14) longitudinally and circumferentially contacts jacket (15).
