摘要: All subscribers operating within a communication system initially generate and transmit a random password and their ID code to the operation (control) center of a communication system. Thereafter, in a first embodiment, subscribers are commanded to modify (in a predetermined manner) and re-transmit their password and ID code either periodically or upon requesting access to the communication system. The modified password is retained as the current (authorized) password by both the subscriber and the system. In a second embodiment, subscribers are commanded to generate and transmit a new random password and their ID code to the system, which maintains a history of each subscriber's current and previous passwords. According to the invention, some of the subscribers having an unauthorized (duplicated) ID code may be inactive (off) when the subscriber is commanded to modify or generate a password. In this way, one of the subscribers having an unauthorized (duplicated) ID code will become out-of-sync with the system, and eventually transmit an unauthorized password. When the system receives an incorrect password for an out-of-sync subscriber, access to the communication system may be denied, and the subscribers that duplicate (or permit others to duplicate) ID codes may be identified.

摘要: A telephone interconnect system for a two-way radio communications system is disclosed. A telephone patch interconnect unit accepts dialed digits from a telephone line, encodes them into a data packet, and couples the data packet to a fixed transceiver for transmission to remote units. A remote unit with a digit sequence identification matching the received and decoded dialed digit activates an alert. A remote unit may generate and store digits corresponding to a desired telephone number. The digits are subsequently encoded into a data packet and transmitted to the telephone patch interconnect unit. The interconnect unit accepts, acknowledges and decodes the data packet and couples the resulting digits to the telephone line.

摘要: A digital voice storage system adapted for use in a multiple unit land mobile radio communications system. The system utilizes a PSK signalling system with fixed length data packets to control a system capable of multiple message storage of speech at mobile stations. Up to eight 64K dynamic RAMS are used in conjunction with a microprocessor to store up to 42 seconds of speech comprising up to eight separate messages. In addition, the system permits base interrogation of mobiles to determine if a message has been stored for review by the base operator and to determine the remaining recording capacity and total recording capacity of the mobile.

摘要: A trunked radio subscriber requesting dispatch service transmits a request for a channel and immediately begins to speak without waiting to receive permission to access the channel. The subscriber radio locally records the information to be transmitted and, upon being assigned a channel, begins to reproduce and transmit the information. Recording and reproduction provides delay to span the time between request for and assignment to a channel and eliminates the need for the subscriber to wait to transmit or to quickly seize a channel assigned after an initial refusal. This enhances overall response time and increases time available for transmitting information signals. During interconnect calling, a trunked system alternately assigns inbound and outbound frequencies only as required for back-and-forth communication between simplex radio and duplex wireline subscribers. Voice buffering allows the parties to begin talking during the delay between request for and assignment of frequencies. The invention further provides for call origination by either radio or wireline subscribers without use of information channels. These procedures release resources and make them available to other callers.

摘要: A register-modelled radio system comprising a plurality of register-modelled processors having addressable registers for modelling the virtual state of the processor; a serial bus, interconnecting the register-modelled processors for communicating between the addressable registers; and a communications protocol for passing information to or from the addressable registers, whereby the virtual state of a radio portion may be determined or altered by, respectively, communicating information from or to the addressable registers. The communications protocol further comprises an information packet having an address, an operation code, optional data, and an error detection device, such as a cyclical redundancy check packet. The operation code is chosen from the group of primitive operation codes reset, read, write, bit set, bit clear, acknowledge, and negative acknowledge.

摘要: Correction of a round-trip delay within a communication system (100) takes place by receiving an uplink communication signal (119) over uplink communication signal paths (130-132) and determining what ray was utilized by a remote unit (113) in time aligning the uplink communication signal (119). In particular, a base station (101) analyzes the uplink communication signal (119) and predicts the ray that the remote unit (113) utilized for time alignment. Once the base station (101) has determined the ray that the remote unit (113) utilized in time alignment, the base station (101) corrects any calculation of round-trip delay accordingly.

摘要: A communication device (10) comprises an input for receiving a first audio signal (12) and an input (36) for receiving a second audio signal. The communication device (10) also includes a circular buffer (34) for storing the output digital audio signal (12) and for producing an output audio signal (20). The communication device (10) determines whether at least a portion of the output audio signal (20) is present in the second audio signal. If such a portion is present, the communication device (10) subtracts the portion of the output audio signal (20) from the second audio signal, to produce a third audio signal (26). A threshold detector, responsive to the third audio signal, produces a first control signal, when the level of the third audio signal increases to at least a first predetermined level, and a second control signal, when the level of the third audio signal decreases to a value lower than a second predetermined level, where the second predetermined level is lower than the first predetermined level. Finally, a buffer control (22 ) causes the buffer (34) to suspend production of the output audio signal in response to the first control signal, and causes the buffer (34) to resume production of the audio signal (12), in response to the second control signal.

摘要: A time division multiplexed (TDM) communication system is disclosed, which apportions radio frequency communication channels into at least two time slots. Voice signals for transmission on this system are analyzed and vo-coded into a digital signal that is transmitted during one or more of the time slots. Received messages are recovered from at least one of these time slots and the voice message synthesized from the vo-coded signal. In this manner multiple voice messages may be transceived in a time division multiplexed manner on a single narrowband communication channel.
