Abstract:
A printing apparatus provided with a mechanism capable of selecting an appropriate one of a plurality of applicable cleaning methods so as to clean a pressure roller of a fixing device. The printing apparatus conveys a sheet from a sheet feeder and performs cleaning of the fixing device using the conveyed sheet, by a first cleaning method or a second cleaning method more effective than the first cleaning method. When the number of printed sheets is smaller than a first threshold value, a first cleaning process is performed on the fixing device by the first cleaning method, whereas when the number of sheets printed is not smaller than the first threshold value, a second cleaning process is performed on the fixing device by the second cleaning method.
Abstract:
A printing apparatus incapable of changing print settings when executing printing, which is improved in user-friendliness when the print settings are different from the settings of the printing apparatus. The printing apparatus include an NVMEM storing setting information indicating predetermined respective settings for setting items for use in printing. A controller unit receives job information including image data to be printed, from a server. When the received job information includes setting information configured at the server, the setting information is caused to be temporarily stored in a RAM of the server. Some of the setting information configured at the server is stored in the NVMEM, and then the image data is printed according to the setting information.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus connectable with a client apparatus via a network includes a normal operation mode and a first sleep mode for restricting power supply to the information processing apparatus. The information processing apparatus includes a first storing unit configured to store a plurality of files, wherein the power supply to the first storing unit is restricted in the first sleep mode, a second storing unit configured to store file information about the plurality of files stored in the first storing unit, a receiving unit configured to receive a data acquisition request from the client apparatus, a first reading unit configured to read a file from the first storing unit in response to the receiving unit receiving the data acquisition request from the client apparatus when the information processing apparatus is in the normal operation mode, a second reading unit configured to read the file information from the second storing unit in response to the receiving unit receiving the data acquisition request from the client apparatus when the information processing apparatus is in the first sleep mode, and a transmission unit configured to transmit one of the data read by the first reading unit and the data read by the second reading unit to the client apparatus.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus includes a connection unit configured to connect a detachably attachable external storage device, a program storage unit configured to store a first program, a first memory control unit configured to store identification information used to identify the information processing apparatus in the external storage device in association with the first program stored in the program storage unit, a program acquisition unit configured to acquire a second program from the external storage device, and a second memory control unit configured to store the second program acquired by the program acquisition unit in the program storage unit.
Abstract:
In accordance with the acceptance of an output instruction to output a single file containing a plurality of images from a user, at least one of the images contained in the file specified to be output based on the output instruction is output. At that time, control is performed so that at least one image is selected from among images associated with each other of the images contained in the file specified to be output based on the output instruction and the selected image is output.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus rotationally moves a plurality of recording material storage units that store a recording material and includes a moving unit configured to move the recording material storage unit to a replacement position, and a detection unit configured to detect an in-motion status in which the recording material storage unit is moving to the replacement position. In addition, a determination unit determines either a first state or a second state of the image forming apparatus as the state of the image forming apparatus that is to replace the in-motion status and should be reported to a user when the detection unit detects the in-motion status should not be reported to a user. The first state is a state which is currently being reported to the user when it is detected that the recording material storage unit is in the in-motion status, and the second state is a state which transitions after the recording material storage unit moves to the replacement position, and the second state is a printing state in which the image forming apparatus is in printing.

Abstract:
A controller unit detects that a toner cartridge is rotationally moving to the replacement position, and acquires the state (first state) of a device that is currently being displayed on a PC and the state (second state) of a device that transits after the toner cartridge moves to the replacement position. Then, a controller unit determines whether or not the in-motion status should be reported to a user based on the first state and the second state, and determines the state of a device that is to replace the in-motion status and should be reported to a user when it is determined that the in-motion status should not be reported to a user.

Abstract:
An electronic approval system which is capable of improving reliability of approval in a workflow. The electronic approval system comprises a server and a plurality of multifunction peripherals (MFPs). The server manages a status of data to be handled in the workflow. An MFP performs a visual output of the data to be handled in the workflow, and transmits configuration information containing output configuration for the visual output of the data by the MFP and/or information for identifying the MFP, to the server. The server manages approval permitting conditions as information indicative of conditions for making the data approvable, in association with the workflow, and determines whether or not to manage the data as approvable, based on the configuration information transmitted from the MFP and the approval permitting conditions.
