    摘要: A container for containing liquid to be ejected. The container includes a negative pressure producing member accommodating chamber for accommodating a negative pressure producing member. The negative pressure producing member accommodating chamber is provided with an air vent for fluid communication with ambience and a liquid supply portion for supplying the liquid to a liquid ejecting head having ejection outlets. The container also includes a liquid containing chamber which is substantially hermetically sealed except for a fluid communication path through which the liquid containing chamber is in fluid communication with the negative pressure producing member accommodating chamber. A partition is provided for separating the negative pressure producing member accommodating chamber and the liquid containing chamber. The partition is provided with an ambience introduction path for introducing the ambience into the liquid containing chamber from the negative pressure producing member accommodating chamber. The ambience introduction path forms a capillary force generating portion. The capillary force which is produced by the capillary force generating portion satisfies a relationship between that capillary force and potential head differences, head losses, and other capillary forces in the container.

    摘要: A capped liquid container comprises a liquid container for retaining liquid, having a supply opening formed for supplying the liquid to the recording devices of an ink jet recording apparatus, and a cap fixed to the liquid container for closing the supply opening, the cap being removed from the liquid container by rotating the cap. This cap is formed by a rigid member and an elastic member, and the elastic member is provided with a first engagement portion, while a second engagement portion is formed on the edge circumference of the supply opening to engage with the first engagement portion. Then, the first engagement portion and the second engagement portion are sealingly pressed together, and at the same time, a part of the rigid member of the cap is fixed to the liquid container. With the structure thus arranged, the contact surface between the first and second engagement portions produces the sealing effect, hence making it possible to fabricate a capped liquid container having a high water tightness and air tightness. Further when the liquid container is unsealed, it is easy to open the liquid container without causing liquid to spread externally with the provision of the rigid member to the cap which prevents the container from being passed inwardly when being unsealed.

    摘要: Precision of detecting existence/non-existence of a liquid container and a liquid level in the container is improved even if the detection is performed by a single sensor, or even if the S/N ratio of the detection is low, the detected results can be discriminated from one another. For this, a concave polyhedron is provided in the center of the bottom surface of an optical prism in order to reduce the amount of light reflected on the bottom surface of the optical prism and returned to a photoreceptor. Moreover, a reflection curved surface having a quadratic surface e.g. spherical surface or paraboloid, is provided on the bottom surface of an ink tank, for reflecting light emitted by an optical unit consisting of a light emission device and a photoreceptor. By virtue of this, even in a case where an arrangement angle or position of the optical unit is deviated to some extent, sufficient amount of light for the photoreceptor can be received, making it possible to accurately detect existence/non-existence of ink and/or existence/non-existence of an ink tank.

With the structure thus arranged, the ink jet recording head is capable of optimizing the discharge characteristics of recording liquid and the supply characteristics thereof, as well as the positioning precision of a recording element base plate to a supporting member.

    摘要: The present invention provides a liquid housing container that enables an increase in the channel cross section of a connection portion of a liquid channel that allows a liquid housing chamber to communicate with an exterior, allowing pressure loss to be minimized. A supply needle 107 is pushed into a liquid housing container to move, to an open position, a valve 102A. With the valve 102A remaining in the open position, the supply needle 107 is pushed back and held separate from the valve 102A. Subsequently, the supply needle 107 is pushed into the liquid container again to move the valve 102A to a closed position. Even when the supply needle 107 is removed from the liquid housing container, the valve 102A is held in the closed position.
