    摘要: In an engine intake A/F ratio control system in an outboard engine system, a secondary air passage (P) for supplying secondary air for regulating the A/F ratio of an air-fuel mixture is connected to a carburetor (33) in an intake system of an engine (E), and a duty control valve (68) is connected to the secondary air passage (P). A duty control unit (92) is connected to the duty control valve (68) for controlling the duty ratio of a pulse applied to a coil (76) of the duty control valve (68), and an LAF sensor (94) is mounted to an exhaust system for detecting an A/F ratio of an exhaust gas to input a detection signal proportional to the A/F ratio of the exhaust gas to the duty control unit (92). Thus, in any of a case when the tolerance of the purifying rate of the catalytic converter is set relatively widely with an engine output taken into consideration to a certain extent, and a case when the set range is shifted to a rich side of the A/R ratio with the engine output taken into serious consideration, the A/F ratio of the exhaust gas can be controlled properly to a desired target value.

    摘要: An exhaust gas emission control system for a 4-cycle outboard engine is disclosed. The engine comprises a mounting member; an engine block mounted on the mounting member; an extension housing coupled to the mounting member and extending downward therefrom; and an engine oil pan mounted under the mounting member within the extension housing. The oil pan has a recess formed therein in the lengthwise direction. An exhaust gas expansion chamber is formed in the extension housing for receiving exhaust gas from the exhaust manifold of the engine. The engine exhaust emission control system comprises a catalyst assembly positioned in the exhaust gas expansion chamber, the catalyst assembly having a catalyst case aligned with the oil pan in the lengthwise direction thereof. At least a portion of the catalyst case is disposed in the recess in the oil pan.

    摘要: An outboard motor has an internal combustion engine with a carburetor. The carburetor is designed to extend maintenance interval greatly by preventing or suppressing the deposition of solid matters in the gap between the intake passage and a butterfly-type throttle valve therein. The throttle valve is divided, by a valve axis about which the throttle valve turns, into a first valve part that turns from the downstream side to the upstream side with respect to an air intake direction when the fully closed throttle valve is opened and a second valve part that turns from the upstream side to the downstream side with respect to the air intake direction when the fully closed throttle valve is opened. The first valve part has an edge that moves to the upstream side past bypass ports when the fully closed throttle valve is opened, and the second valve part is provided with a through hole that allows air to flow therethrough at a flow rate necessary for idling when the throttle valve is fully closed.

    摘要: An outboard engine system includes a 4-cycle engine. The engine includes an engine block, a cylinder head coupled to the engine block and having an intake port in one side thereof, a carburetor including a carburetor body disposed on one side of the engine block adjacent the intake port and having an intake passageway, and a bypass-type starting device mounted to the carburetor body, and an intake pipe means which connects the intake passageway and the intake port to each other. At least an upper half of the engine including the carburetor is covered with an engine cover. In such outboard engine system, the bypass-type starting device of the carburetor is mounted to the carburetor body between the intake passageway and the engine block. Thus, it is possible to achieve both of low-speed and high-speed performances and at the same time, to enhance the accuracy of an air-fuel ratio and provide a reduction in fuel consumption and an enhancement in nature of the exhaust gas, and moreover, to avoid an increase in size of the engine cover.
