The present invention relates to a composition including S-adenosyl-L-methionine; and at least one kind of additive selected from carboxymethylcellulose, hydroxypropylcellulose, soybean polysaccharide, casein sodium, and zein, in which S-adenosyl-L-methionine is extracted from S-adenosyl-L-methionine-containing cells obtained by culturing a microorganism having an ability to produce SAMe, and the content of the additive in the composition falls within the range of 0.05 to 15 times by mass of S-adenosyl-L-methionine in the composition. The present invention provides a composition containing a high concentration of S-adenosyl-L-methionine, which is useful as a water-soluble physiologically active substance, and being excellent in storage stability and bioabsorbability. The present invention also relates to a molded article formed by using the composition and a method of producing the composition.

A patterned perpendicular magnetic recording medium, such as a disk for use in hard disk drives, has a flux channeling layer (FCL) located below the recording layer (RL) in each of the discrete data islands. The disk includes a substrate, a soft underlayer (SUL) of soft magnetically permeable material on the substrate, and a nonmagnetic exchange break layer (EBL) on the SUL. A nonmagnetic separation layer (SL) is located between the FCL and the RL in the islands. The FCL has an anisotropy field substantially lower than the anisotropy field of the RL, and a magnetization equal to or higher than the magnetization of the RL. The FCL is saturated at a much lower field than the RL and thus channels the magnetic flux from the write head through the island positions. The dipolar fields from the RL above the FCL polarize the magnetization of the FCL parallel to the magnetization direction of the RL in the absence of an external field, to thereby enhance the readback signal.

A perpendicular magnetic recording medium has a multilayer recording layer (RL) structure that includes a ferromagnetic intergranular exchange enhancement layer for mediating intergranular exchange coupling in the other ferromagnetic layers in the RL structure. The RL structure may be a multilayer of a first ferromagnetic layer (MAG1) of granular polycrystalline Co alloy with Ta-oxide, a second ferromagnetic layer (MAG2) of granular polycrystalline Co alloy with Si-oxide, and an oxide-free CoCr capping layer on top of and in contact with MAG2 for mediating intergranular exchange coupling in MAG1 and MAG2. The RL structure may also be a multilayer of an intergranular exchange enhancement interlayer (IL) in between two ferromagnetic layers, MAG1 and MAG2, each with reduced or no intergranular exchange coupling. Because the IL is in direct contact with both MAG1 and MAG2, it directly mediates intergranular exchange coupling in each of MAG1 and MAG2.

The perpendicular magnetic recording medium of one embodiment includes an interlayer, an underlayer, and a perpendicular magnetic recording layer. The interlayer is comprised of a Ni-alloy having the characteristics of being nonmagnetic and having an FCC structure. The alloying element for the Ni-alloy may comprise one of V or Cr, or may comprise one of V, Cr, or W. The concentration of the alloying element is set such that the concentration of the alloying element is high enough to make the Ni-alloy non-magnetic, while low enough to maintain an FCC structure for the Ni-alloy.

A dual-layer type perpendicular magnetic recording disk for use in a perpendicular magnetic recording system that uses a single pole recording head has a laminated underlayer that has at least two ferromagnetic films exchange-coupled across an antiferromagnetic coupling layer. The magnetic moments of the ferromagnetic layers in the laminated underlayer are oriented antiparallel. The laminated underlayer provides a soft magnetically permeable flux return path without undesirable domain walls and associated media noise, with controllable permeability and minimization of saturation of the upper ferromagnetic layers. In one embodiment the moments of the ferromagnetic layers in the underlayer are oriented generally radially on the disk. In another embodiment the moments are oriented generally circumferentially in the track direction on the disk, so that the beneficial effect of the soft magnetic underlayer occurs primarily only during the writing process.
