摘要： According to an image processing method and apparatus of the present invention, an outline portion is extracted from input image data, and a pixel whose dot size is to be changed is extracted. The input image data is printed without any change, and the pixel whose dot size is to be changed is overlap-printed while the dot size is increased. Therefore, smoothing can be sufficiently performed in both the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction without increasing the dot density and decreasing the recording speed.

摘要： A head for discharging yellow ink, magenta ink, cyan ink and first black ink having a relatively fast penetration velocity to a recording medium and a head for discharging second black ink having a relatively low penetration velocity are used to print an image. When a black image is adjacent to a color image, the black image is formed by using the first black ink, and when the black image is not adjacent to the color image, the black image is formed by using the second black ink. A black ink and a plurality of color inks having a different penetration velocity to a recording medium than that of the black ink are also used to print an image. Whether a color image area is present in the vicinity of a black image area of record data or not is determined, and whether the black image area is to be formed by the black ink or by the color inks is decided in accordance with the determination result, and when the black image is to be formed by the color inks, the color inks are used based on a mask pattern pseudo-randomly prepared to make the change in tonality less recognizable.

摘要： In image recording by discharging plural inks of different characteristics onto a recording medium, recording pixels to be recorded by at least one of the inks of either yellow, magenta or cyan color subjected to pixel expansion are expanded in four direction, then a logic product is calculated between the expanded pixels and the pixels to be recorded with an ink which is black not subjected to pixel expansion, and the recording pixels to be recorded by the ink which is black not subjected to pixel expansion are replaced by the pixels formed by the inks (Y, M, C) subjected to pixel expansion. Thus high-quality image recording is made possible even in case the inks of different properties are brought into mutual contact.

摘要： A recording head having an ejection portion group for ejecting a black ink, and ejection portion groups for ejecting color inks is used. 摘要： When the color printing is performed using a recording head arranged such that number of nozzles for discharging black ink is greater than the number of nozzles for discharging inks of other colors, the use frequency of some nozzles among all the nozzles for discharging the black ink is higher, so that image unevenness may arise when transferred to the black printing. The present invention relates to an ink jet recording method and an ink jet recording apparatus in which the image unevenness often seen in the black printing involving the use of more nozzles than other colors, and the blur of recorded image seen in the image having black images adjacent color images located are reduced.
