Abstract: A fire suppression system for an aircraft cargo compartment comprises a source of fire suppression agent, a supply line for conducting the fire suppression agent to the compartment, at least one first pressure sensor for sensing the pressure within the cargo compartment and at least one second pressure sensor for sensing the pressure in an area within the aircraft but external to the cargo compartment. The system further comprises a first, inlet valve permitting fluid communication between the area external to the cargo compartment and the cargo compartment, a second, outlet valve permitting fluid communication between the cargo compartment and an or the area external to the cargo compartment and a fan for extracting fluid from the cargo compartment through the outlet valve.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments pertain to the art of first suppressants and, in particular, to maintaining a desired and constant blend of multiple fire suppressants during discharge. The present disclosure provides fire extinguisher assemblies utilizing a constant blend ratio of fire suppressant agents during discharge. More particularly, the present disclosure provides fire extinguisher assemblies utilizing a constant blend ratio of a first fire suppressant agent (e.g., a low-boiling, high-volatility agent) and a second fire suppressant agent (e.g., a higher-boiling, lower-volatility agent) during discharge. The embodiments and fire extinguisher assemblies described herein can help keep the pressure constant during discharge of the fire extinguisher assemblies.

The controller is configured to initially release the inert gas in response to a fire threat to reduce an oxygen concentration at the fire threat below a preset oxygen concentration threshold, and release the organic halide gas to increase an organic halide gas concentration at the fire threat above a preset organic halide gas concentration threshold while the oxygen concentration is below the preset oxygen concentration threshold.

Abstract: A fire suppression composition for use in an enclosed space, such as a cargo hold of an aircraft, as well as a fire suppression system or device, a method of suppressing a fire, and a method for preparing a fire suppression composition, are disclosed. The fire suppression composition includes: component (1), being 50 to 95 mol % nitrogen, based on the total fire suppression composition; component (2), being 5 to 25 mol % carbon dioxide or argon or a mixture thereof based on the total fire suppression composition; and component (3), being 0 to 25 mol % helium or neon or a mixture thereof, based on the total fire suppression composition; wherein the fire suppression composition has a density in the range of 1.1 to 1.3 kg/m3 at atmospheric pressure and 20° C.
