摘要： There is provided a weather strip in which a mounting base portion of the weather strip includes a portion formed into a substantially L-shape in cross section which has at least a bottom wall and an exterior side wall. A pressure sensitive adhesive double coated tape is securely affixed to an internal surface of the exterior side wall. A stretch and contraction prevention portion is formed on the exterior side wall in a position which lies more centrally in a width direction of the exterior side wall than a connecting portion where the exterior side wall and the bottom wall are connected together. When the mounting base portion is curved in the width direction, a neutral plane of the curve is made to reside within the stretch and contraction prevention portion.

摘要： A method for attaching a weather strip for a motor vehicle, which is capable of securely attaching a base portion of the weather strip to a predetermined position of a flange. The base portion including a bottom wall and an outer side wall and having a generally L-shaped cross-section is curved in a holding section of an attaching device on the side of an end of the flange to enlarge an angle between a bottom wall and an outer side wall of the base portion, and in a pressing section of the attaching device, the bottom wall is pressed against an end of the flange, and a double-sided adhesive tape bonded to the outer side wall is pressed against an exterior face of the flange, whereby the weather strip is attached to the flange.

The base portion includes at least an outer side wall and a bottom wall, a double-sided adhesive tape is bonded to an interior surface of the outer side wall, and at least one part of the outer side wall and the bottom wall is composed of a hard material such as a hard rubber, which is harder than a material of the remaining part thereof, and a material exhibiting a low extensibility, such as a resin sheet, is stuck to or embedded in the outer side wall and/or the bottom wall.

摘要： A weather strip has a mounting base portion which is mounted on a flange and a seal portion which is integrally provided on the mounting base portion, so as to seal a gap between a vehicle body opening open/close member and a vehicle body opening peripheral part. The mounting base portion is provided with at least an exterior side wall and a bottom wall, and a connecting portion between the exterior side wall and the bottom wall is formed more rigid than the other portions of the mounting base portion, a pressure sensitive adhesive double sided tape being bonded to an interior side surface of the exterior side wall. A flange contact portion which holds a distal end of the flange is formed on an inner surface of the bottom wall at a position in the vicinity of the connecting portion with the exterior side wall, while a caulking member which seals the distal end of the flange is mounted on the inner surface of the bottom wall except for the portion where the flange contact portion is formed.

An elongation/shrinkage prevention portion is formed such that when the attaching base portion is curved in a direction of a width of the exterior side wall, a neutral axis of curvature is disposed at a position slightly offset toward a widthwise distal end of the exterior side wall from that portion of the exterior side wall continuous with the bottom wall. A double adhesive tape is bonded at least to that portion of an interior surface of the exterior side wall extending toward the distal end of the exterior side wall from a region at which a first hollow connecting portion of the hollow seal portion and the exterior side wall are interconnected.

The weather strip has a ring-shaped configuration by connecting longitudinal ends thereof to each other with a connecting section, and includes a base portion for attachment to a flange provided in a closing member for closing an opening in a vehicle body or an opening portion around the opening, and a seal portion integrally formed with the base portion for contacting a facing member, that is the opening portion or the closing member and sealing a gap therebetween. The base portion includes at least a bottom wall and an outer side wall and has a generally L-shaped cross-section. A double-sided adhesive tape is bonded to an interior face of the outer side wall except for a predetermined area which ranges between both longitudinal ends of the connecting section.

The trim portion is provided with at least a bottom wall and an exterior side wall. A pressure sensitive adhesive double sided tape is adhered to an interior side surface of the exterior side wall to thereby be bonded to the flange. A caulking sponge is mounted on an inner surface of the bottom wall so as to seal a distal end of the flange. The caulking sponge is formed such that an interior end portion thereof protrudes from the bottom wall more largely than any other portions thereof.
