摘要： A facsimile apparatus connected to a personal computer and provided with a scanner mode in which an original image is read out and transmitted to the personal computer, the facsimile apparatus does not wait for re-dialing when no transmission command is received from the personal computer. A control unit of the facsimile apparatus calls the personal computer when the scanner mode is set. When a transmission command is received from the personal computer within a predetermined period of time after the start of the contact, an original image is read out and transmitted. When no command is received within the predetermined period of time, the contact is stopped.

摘要： In a facsimile apparatus having a facsimile modem function for a personal computer to perform communications through the facsimile apparatus, the changeover between a facsimile mode and a facsimile modem mode is automatically made based on whether an AT command is transmitted from the personal computer or not. When an AT command is received while the facsimile apparatus is in the standby state in the facsimile mode, the operation mode is changed to the facsimile modem mode to execute the command. When no AT command is received within a predetermined period of time after the execution of the AT command, the operation mode is returned to the facsimile mode. In changing the mode, the facsimile apparatus is disconnected from the telephone line.

摘要： An encryption communication apparatus of the present invention is embodied, for example, by a facsimile machine. A document original of plural pages set on the facsimile machine is read by a scanner section, and converted into image data on a page-by-page basis. A value N1 represents the second of the clock time at which the reading of each page of the document original is completed, and binary-coded data in an N1-th bit position counted from the front bit of each page of image data is inverted. Then, the image data is subjected to a predetermined encryption process, and transmitted in the form of facsimile signals via a communication line. Binary-coded data corresponding to a given pixel in the front portion (left upper portion) of the image data on each page of the document original is inverted. Therefore, even if a third party obtains the encrypted data corresponding to the front portion of the image data, decryption is very difficult and encryption security is ensured.

摘要： A facsimile communication method according to which a relay broadcast mode is set by an operator, in which receiving station numbers or the like are inputted from an operating section, and the receiving station numbers are stored in a first memory block. When a start key is operated in this state, a document set in a scanner section is read, and image data corresponding to the read document are sequentially stored in a second memory block. Information on the document corresponding to one page is read, and the receiving station numbers are read out of the first memory block to produce a transmission frame. Further, the image data are read out of the second memory block, to produce a transmission frame. The produced transmission frames are sequentially transmitted to a relay station. Thus, the receiving station numbers are transmitted as a part of the information.

摘要： An encryption communication terminal includes an encryption key table 9a for registering secret encryption keys and an encryption box 9b for storing received encrypted data. When encrypted data is received, the decryption of the received encrypted data is tried by using a secret encryption key Ki registered in the encryption key table 9a. If the encrypted data can successfully be decrypted by using the registered secret encryption key Ki, the decrypted data is printed out. On the other hand, if the encrypted data cannot be decrypted, the received encrypted data is stored in the encryption box 9b, and then a reception report is output to notify that encrypted data is stored in the encryption box 9b. This reception report lets a recipient user know that encrypted data has been received but cannot be decrypted. The recipient user may ask the transmitter about the secret encryption key Ki to decrypt the received encrypted data.

摘要： In a facsimile apparatus provided with a facsimile modem function through which a personal computer performs communication, the changeover between a facsimile mode and a facsimile modem mode is made based on the setting and activation conditions of the apparatus. When a call comes in while the facsimile apparatus is in the facsimile modem mode, if no power is supplied to the personal computer, the operation mode is changed to the facsimile mode to receive the call. When the personal computer does not respond to a call notification although power is supplied thereto, a warning sound is provided. A call coming in when the facsimile apparatus is used as an image data inputting and outputting apparatus of the personal computer is ignored. The facsimile apparatus does not respond to an AT command received within a predetermined period of time after the setting of an original to be transmitted, so that the facsimile mode is maintained.
