An image forming apparatus includes a storage portion, a preview image generating circuit, an output image generating circuit, a data information obtaining circuit, and a display circuit. The storage portion stores image data that is an output target. The preview image generating circuit generates a preview image from the image data based on an output setting. The output image generating circuit generates an output image from the image data based on the output setting. The data information obtaining circuit obtains data information from output image data of the output image, and discards the output image data from which the data information was obtained. The display circuit displays the data information together with the preview image.
Abstract:
A character area is identified in each page by detecting an area in which edge pixels continue in an edge image generated based on each page of a target image. A method of compressing data of each page of the target image is selected based on a ratio of the character area to each page of the edge image. First page data is generated by combining: outlined data of the character area of each page of the target image for which the first compression method has been selected; and compressed data of a background area other than the character area. Second page data is generated by compressing all data of each page of the target image for which the second compression method has been selected, and document data of the plurality of pages is generated by combining the first page data and the second page data.

The scanned-image data acquiring circuit acquires the scanned-image data from the scanner. The scanned-image data is generated by the reading of the document image by the scanner. The combined image data generating circuit generates single combined image data with a plurality of pages by combining the scanned image data with the target image data, and acquires the combined image data instead of the scanned image data.

The shared folder management circuit of the group management server set an access right for the received user ID on the shared folder when receiving the request from the terminal.
