Abstract: A display device operation method according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: operating in a twin mode in which a merge screen obtained by merging a first screen of the display device and a second screen of another display device connected to the display device can be used by linking a plurality of display devices including the display device; displaying a pointer on the first screen; acquiring a user input for the displayed pointer; and performing an operation corresponding to the acquired user input through one or more of the plurality of display devices.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a broadcast receiving apparatus and an operating method thereof. The broadcast receiving apparatus according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a network interface unit configured to communicate with an external server through a network; a broadcast receiving unit configured to receive a broadcast signal; a storage unit configured to store a database containing information on at least one broadcasting service provider; and a controller, wherein the controller checks whether access to the network is possible through the network interface unit, checks, when the access to the network is possible, a status of an application, which is registered in an application server, that contains information on a broadcasting service provider, through the network interface unit, determines whether it is required to update at least some of information contained in the database, based on a result of checking the status of the application, receives, when the update is required, an application containing information required for the update from the application server, updates at least some of the information contained in the database, based on the received application, and receives the broadcast signal based on the information contained in the database through the broadcast receiving unit. Various other embodiments are possible.

Abstract: A method for application extension and an image display apparatus using same. The method can include displaying a menu, receiving a selection signal selecting one or more external devices to display an application from the menu, detecting the external devices, receiving first application data of the application from a first external device and second application data of the application from a second external device, displaying an application execution screen based on the received first and second application data, receiving third application data of the application from at least one of the first external device or the second external devices, and displaying an execution screen of the application based on the received first, second and third application data. Also, the first, second and third application data can be processed by the first and second external devices, and the application does not have to be installed in the image display apparatus.
