The present invention provides a method of transmitting broadcast signals. The method includes, processing input streams into plural PLPs; encoding data of the each PLPs according to code rates, wherein the encoding data of the each PLPs further includes, encoding data of at least one PLP with LDPC codes, bit interleaving the LDPC encoded data of the PLP, mapping the bit interleaved data onto a set of constellations according to the code rate, MIMO encoding the mapped data, and time interleaving the MIMO encoded data; building at least one signal frame by mapping the encoded data of the each PLPs; and modulating data in the built signal frame by OFDM method and transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data, wherein the bit interelaved data of each PLPs are mapped by using either QAM, NUQ, or NUC.

The present disclosure comprises: a demodulation unit for receiving a broadcast signal including a signal frame divided into a bootstrap area, a preamble area, and a data area, and demodulating the received broadcast signal according to an OFDM scheme; a frame parsing unit for parsing the signal frame from the demodulated broadcast signal; an L1 signaling processing unit for processing preamble data received in the preamble area of the parsed signal frame, and extracting L1 signaling data including time information; a physical layer pipe (PLP) data processing unit for processing PLP data of at least one PLP received in the data area of the parsed signal frame, and extracting at least one data packet; and a container encapsulation unit for generating a first container including the extracted time information, and generating a second container including the at least one extracted data packet, wherein each of the first container and the second container includes a first header, a second header, and a payload, the first header includes start position information indicating a start position of a corresponding container, start position information of the first container and start position information of the second container have the same value, and the second header includes container identification information for distinguishing the first container and the second container.

The signal processing apparatus for processing a baseband signal demodulated from an RF signal, includes: a synchronizer; a channel estimator; an equalizer; an error corrector to perform error correction based on a signal output from the equalizer; and a mean square error calculator to calculate a mean square error based on a difference between an input signal from the equalizer and a reference signal, wherein when the RF signal includes a co-channel interference signal, the error corrector performs error correction by using a mean square error in a time domain or mean square errors in a time domain and a spatial domain. Accordingly, a baseband signal, from which a defect is removed, may be obtained in response to various communication channels or broadcast channels.
