Abstract:
An air conditioner that stores data through communication between a plurality of air conditioner devices and a method for operating an air conditioner are provided. Data regarding power consumption quantities of a plurality of outdoor devices may be accumulatively stored in a state in which an additional data collecting device or an additional storage device is not connected to the plurality of outdoor devices, and the data regarding power consumption quantities of the outdoor devices may be transmitted to a device further connected to the plurality of outdoor devices. Consequently, it is possible to utilize data regarding power consumption of the air conditioner, set a target value based on the power consumption of the air conditioner, easily determine a power consumption pattern, and easily take measures to save energy.

A compressor driving apparatus and an air conditioner including the same, whereby the compressor driving apparatus includes a capacitor connected to a DC terminal, an inverter, including a plurality of three-phase switching devices, to convert DC power from the capacitor into AC power to drive a compressor motor, an output current detector to detect output current flowing in the motor, and a controller to output a switching control signal for controlling the inverter based on the output current, wherein the controller performs control such that some of the three-phase switching devices in the inverter are turned on or off in a compressor preheating mode.

A motor driving apparatus and a home appliance including the same. The motor driving apparatus includes a temperature sensing unit to sense a compressor temperature, an inverter including a plurality of switching elements to convert a direct current (DC) voltage into an alternating current (AC) voltage and to supply AC voltage to a motor used to drive the compressor, and a controller to control the inverter. The controller performs control to apply motor preheating current for preheating of the motor during a first period before startup of the motor, and varies depending on the sensed temperature a time during which the motor preheating current is applied or a current application level. A reduction in power consumption during the preheating of the compressor is achieved.
