    摘要: A photographic element which includes a support having a frontside and a backside, at least one silver halide emulsion layer superposed on the frontside of the support; and a protective overcoat layer superposed on the backside of the support. The protective overcoat layer is formed from a coating solution comprising a continuous liquid organic medium having therein a mixture of dispersed core/shell polymer particles and a soluble polymer. The core/shell polymer particles comprise a core portion, which is insoluble in the organic medium, and a shell portion which has an affinity for both the core portion and the organic medium and has an acid number of from 25 to 200. The soluble polymer has an acid number of from 70 to 500 and the acid number of the soluble polymer is greater than the acid number of the shell of the core/shell polymer particles.

    摘要: Some embodiments of the invention generally relate to a moisture barrier coating that is biodegradable and compostable. Some embodiments also relate to a coating that is dual ovenable. Such coatings may be used to increase moisture resistance and provide non-stick or release characteristics when applied to biodegradable and compostable disposable food packaging and food service items. In some embodiments, a plasticizer or an amide wax are added to a cellulose-ester, shellac, and rosin based coating to increase moisture resistance and reduce brittleness. In other embodiments, phospholipids or medium-chain triglycerides or increased levels of amide wax may be added to the either of the embodiments above to provide enhanced release characteristics.

    摘要: The present invention is an imaging element which includes a support, an image forming layer superposed on the support; and at least one layer superposed on the support. The at least one layer superposed on the support is formed from a non-aqueous coating composition of a composite wax particle composed of a wax phase and a non-crosslinked polymer phase and an organic solvent. The wax phase includes a wax having a melting point of greater than 30° C. The wax comprises greater than 80% by weight of the wax phase. The wax phase to non-crosslinked polymer phase ratio is greater than 30/70 and less than 90/10.

    摘要: The present application is generally directed to novel compositions and methods used to produce a biodegradable, starch-based, water-resistant article of manufacture. The teachings include a composition comprising a biodegradable fiber component in an amount ranging from about 5% to about 40% on a dry weight basis, starch component in an amount ranging from about 40% to about 94.5% on a dry weight basis, and an additive component in an amount ranging from more than 0% to about 15% on a dry weight basis. The additive component can comprise an epoxidized vegetable oil, a hydrogenated triglyceride, poly(vinyl acetate), poly(vinyl acetate-ethylene) copolymer, poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) copolymer, or a combination thereof.
