    摘要: A flow blocking device is lowered by cable from a helicopter for insertion into the exhaust gas stack of a fuel burning combustion engine propelling a marine vessel under full engine speed. The wall of the exhaust stack are engaged upon entry of the flow blocking device to insure its retention within the exhaust stack and to initiate in sequence ejection of cooling water into the outflow of the exhaust gas followed by pressurized gas expansion of a flexible hose portion of the flow blocking device into sealing contact with the walls of the exhaust stack to stop exhaust gas outflow and cause back pressure build up to a high engine shut down level.

    摘要: A method for forming a composite trim panel for a vehicle interior begins with a sheet-like appliqué being loaded onto a female negative-vacuum molding tool, wherein the appliqué has a Class A surface facing the female negative-vacuum molding tool and a Class B surface having a heat-activated adhesive. A skin-forming sheet is heated. The skin-forming sheet is negative-vacuum formed into a trim panel skin in the female negative-vacuum molding tool surrounding and atop of the appliqué, wherein the trim panel skin surrounding the appliqué is formed with an in-mold grain. While the trim panel skin remains pliable from the heating and remains in the female negative-vacuum molding tool, a pre-molded rigid substrate is pressed against the trim panel skin to adhere them together.

    摘要: A streamlined fairing comprises an elongated leading edge tension member, elongated trailing edge member of flexible material integrally bonded to the leading edge member, and a flange member secured to the leading and trailing members for preventing relative displacements therebetween and for improving the shape stability of the fairing. The flange member has a cross-sectional width which is between about 10% and about 50% of the maximum width of the fairing and a cross-sectional length which is between about 5% and about 20% of the chord length of the fairing.

    摘要: An underwater noisemaking device that is self-driven for use in towed undater acoustic minesweeping or as a decoy countermeasure device. It comprises a cambered and slotted disc mounted in a frame so as to be free to rotate about a horizontal, transverse axis within its plane when being towed or is in a flow stream. The disc auto-rotates rapidly causing intermittent cavitation, resulting in the emission of loud "clapping" acoustic noise. It may be incorporated into other towed underwater acoustic minesweeping and decoy devices.
