摘要: An image processing apparatus (100) comprises: receiving means for receiving a video signal representing input images; a film-detector unit (108) for detecting whether the input images have been captured by a film camera or by a video camera; and a sharpness enhancement unit (106) for calculating sharpness enhanced images on basis of the input images. The sharpness enhancement unit (106) is controlled by the film-detector unit (108), whereby the sharpness enhancement is larger if the film-detector unit (108) has detected that the input images have been captured by the film camera than if the film-detector unit (108) has detected that the input images have been captured by the video camera.

摘要: The invention relates to a method and a circuit arrangement to reduce motion blur of images shown in non-stroboscopic display devices, in particular Liquid Crystal Display Panels (LCDs). Thin Film Transistor Displays (TFTs), Color Sequential Displays. Plasma Display Panels (PDPs), Digital Micro Mirror Devices or Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) displays, in which motion vectors depending on moving components in each image of an input video, signal are calculated, in which anti-motion blur filtering of the input video signal is performed based on the calculated motion vectors to produce an output video signal, and in which images are generated on said display device depending on said output video signal. In order to provide an improved spatial filtering with less noise enhancement and less noise modulation, it is proposed that edge characteristics in each image of the input video signal are determined and that anti-motion blur filtering is further based on said determined edge characteristics. In this way, spatial filtering is concentrated on significant parts of an image only, and both noise enhancement and noise modulation are reduced.

摘要: A display device (806) is driven by a video processing unit (804) in a number of sub-fields, each for outputting a respective illumination level by the display device. In each sub-field, a pixel of the displayed image may emit an amount of light corresponding to the particular sub-field, depending on whether it is switched on or not. Based on motion estimation, the desired intensity level of a particular pixel at the time point corresponding with the current sub-field is calculated. Subsequently, it is determined how much light has been generated by the pixels along the motion vector of the particular pixel and accumulated in the eye of a human observer. Then a target intensity level is calculated on the basis of the desired level and the already accumulated level. Based on this target level it is decided whether the particular pixel is to be lit in the current sub-field.

摘要: A method, a circuit arrangement and a display device which suppresses motion blur due to motion integration carried out along a motion trajectory on the image data, which occurs in matrix type displays in which a motion trajectory is integrated by the viewer and/or the display, includes an inverse integration filtering of the video signal. To avoid de-blurring in image regions where motion cannot be detected, or image is low and to avoid noise modulation, motion estimation as well as further image characteristic are used.

摘要: The present invention relates to a device and a method for extracting information from detected characteristic signals. A data stream (76, 78, 80, 82) derivable from electromagnetic radiation (14) emitted or reflected by an object (11) is received and a plurality of characteristic index elements (50) varying over time can be extracted therefrom. The index elements (50) comprise physiological information (48) indicative of at least one at least partially periodic vital signal (12), and a disturbing signal component (58). For eliminating the disturbing signal component (58) to a great extent, the characteristic index elements (50) can be projected to a disturbance-reduced index element (64) having a distinct orientation in relation to a presumed orientation of the disturbing signal component (58). The disturbance-reduced index element (64) is chosen so as to reflect a dominant main orientation and length of the disturbing signal component (58) over time. Consequently, the mainly genuine physiological information (48) extracted from the data stream (76, 78, 80, 82) in this way can be utilized for determining the at least one at least partially periodic vital signal (12).
