摘要： An earthworking device comprises a support member having a work tool, such as an earthworking tip, detachably mounted on a forward end thereof. A pin is disposed in aligned bores formed through the support member and the work tool and a spring clip straddles the pin in locked engagement therewith. The spring clip is substantially encapsulated by an elastomeric member which aids in maintaining the spring clip in frictional engagement with the pin. The spring clip may comprise a "hair pin" or U-shaped configuration.

摘要： Spheroidal particles of wear-resistant alloy comprising boron, chromium and iron having maximum hardness for a given composition are produced by the rapid cooling of a molten alloy mixture. The resultant solid particles are then incorporated into a composite alloy wherein the solid particles are held together with a matrix of different material from the alloy. Inserts of the composite wear-resistant alloy are useful in producing long wearing tools.

摘要： A multi-material earthworking ripper tip having a leading nose portion comprised of a material having greater wear resistance and strength at elevated temperatures than the material which comprises the rearward shank supporting portion of the tip. In one embodiment, a bi-metallic nose portion is inertial welded to the shank support portion of the tip. In another embodiment powdered tungsten carbide is sintered in situ within a hollow bore of a steel nose portion. Alternately, a solid core of tungsten carbide could be soldered, brazed or press fitted within said hollow bore.

摘要： A ground-engaging tool is disclosed which includes a blade with a load carrying front face, a ground-engaging bottom surface, and a rear face, and a wear-resistant insert is secured thereto to extend the service life thereof. The wear-resistant insert includes a back-up plate which is disposed in rearwardly spaced relation from the rear face of the blade and adjacent its bottom surface, a wear-resistant material which is bondably sandwiched between the plate and the rear face, and a plurality of bridging members which extend through the wear-resistant material and are rigidly secured to the plate and the rear face of the blade to minimize in use spalling of the wear-resistant material.
