Abstract:
An apparatus for printing material comprising a rotating body located above a web of moving material to be printed, said body to be driven rotatingly in such a manner that the circumferential velocity has a component direct toward the direction of motion of the web of material, the wall of the body being provided with a number of capillar drop-dispensing apertures to be fed with the electrically conducting printing fluid and with at least one electrode being arranged in the vicinity of the apertures, as well as means for generating a voltage difference between the fluid and the electrode.
Abstract:
Method for manufacturing a seamless cylindrical screen gauze by a metalizing process, in which one starts from a fibre fleece which is temporarily adhered to a supporting surface and subjected to a galvanoplastic operation.
Abstract:
Method for manufacturing a metalized screen gauze by a galvanoplastic process, starting from a matrix having an electrically conductive surface upon which a pattern of a non-conductive material has been applied, the method comprising the steps of tensioning a textile web upon said surface and finally performing the galvanoplastic process.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an element with a conducting surface and a pattern of insulating spots to be used as a die for the electrolytic production of sieves for screeen printing. The method starts from a conducting surface consisting of or coated with a material that either possesses insulating properties or can be rendered insulating after heating, the surface being patternwise irradiated with short pulses of a high-energy radiation, such that countersunk spots of an insulating substance are obtained on the surface.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for establishing and maintaining control of the operation of a printing equipment such as for example the type of equipment which is used for printing fabric webs. The equipment includes a series of printing elements such as rotary screens each of which is required to apply a single color to the moving web and all of the colors required to be in registration. The type of equipment with which the invention is especially concerned has a plurality of printing elements and most often these comprise more than the number used in printing on paper and the like webs although the invention is applicable thereto. The invention is concerned with the operating parameters for the equipment and for the several printing elements, these being recorded on a suitable carrier for a given printing project and used for adjustment of the elements and related components of the printing equipment for repetitions of the same project, the information being recorded digitally. Various automatic adjustments provide substantial economy in setting up and operating the printing equipment.
Abstract:
Printing apparatus utilizing flexible metal sleeves comprises means for mounting the sleeves in cylindrical configuration in a device which maintains their cylindrical configuration by means of fluid which is applied to and maintained within the sleeves under pressure during their use. The sleeves are of the type which is made by electrodepositing metal in a form that is very thin, readily collapsible and imperforate.Several structures for supporting the sleeves are disclosed. The sleeves are provided on their exteriors with coatings of flexible, microcrystalline, wholly inorganic photoconductive material such as sputtered ultrapure cadmium sulfide.A method of mounting the sleeve is disclosed.
Abstract:
Printing apparatus utilizing flexible metal sleeves for ink transfer comprises means for mounting the sleeves in cylindrical configuration on a structure which enables the cylindrical configuration to be maintained by air pressure. The sleeves are of the type which is made by electrodepositing metal in a form that is very thin, readily collapsible and imperforate. The sleeve of the apparatus is provided on its exterior with a coating of flexible, microcrystalline, wholly inorganic photoconductive material such as sputtered ultrapure cadmium sulfide. The sleeve is mounted in a press having means to cooperate with the sleeve for maintaining its pressure and for stopping the press if the pressure should drop below a predetermined value.
Abstract:
Apparatus for sputtering a photoconductive coating onto endless flexible belts or cylinders is provided in which the belt or cylinder is shaped in the form of an elongate oval within the sputtering machine and is adapted to be passed over supports whose diameter is substantially less than the diameter of the cylinder if it is a cylinder or of the cylinder which is capable of being formed out of the belt. One support may be a drum and the other support is a structure which may be another drum, preferably idling. In this way it is feasible to have a sputtering machine that is much more narrow than one which would have to sputter a cylinder or belt on a single drum if the supports are mounted vertically. The second support structure, whether drum or otherwise is adjustably mounted so that its distance from the first support is capable of being varied to enable cylinders or belts of different size to be sputtered. It is also biased to move away from the first support to maintain tension in the substrate member being sputtered.
Abstract:
A method and a device for the transfer of a design of dye stuff particles in a moist environment from a carrier element to a receiving material in contact with said carrier, while using an electric field; the receiving material is previously impregnated with a thickening agent having a high molecular weight and hereafter dried by means of a rise in temperature previous to its entering into contact with said carrier.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a seamless cylindrical stencil comprising the steps of shrinking a small-mesh hose on a cylindrical support formed by a wire-netting, after which the threads of the hose and -if necessary- also of the support are made conductive, and finally a metal deposit by means of electro-plating is applied, the thicness of which is less than half the diameter of the hose threads.
