摘要: Processes are provided for preparing a substrate coated with a biomolecule, comprising: a) providing a substrate; b) coating the substrate with a polysiloxane, typically by exposing the substrate to a reactive gas containing siloxane functional groups and to plasma energy to yield a plasma-deposited polysiloxane surface on the substrate; c) rendering the polysiloxane surface amino functional; and d) contacting the amino-functional polysiloxane surface with a biomolecule under conditions effective to attach the biomolecule to the substrate. The coated substrate may be a medical device that demonstrates an ability to maintain gas permeability when in contact with blood or blood components, compared to a substantially identical medical device that has not been coated with a biomolecule using this process.

摘要: Embodiments are provided to dynamically associate an attribute and an associated value to an object, including attribute-value sets to an object, but the embodiments are not so limited. In an embodiment, a system includes a directory component that can be configured to dynamically assign different values, for a set attributes, to an object. In one embodiment, a directory application can be configured to select an attribute-value set for an object based in part on a group membership determination, and a precedence parameter associated with an attribute-value, set, or other grouping. Other embodiments are available.

The system includes a blood pump mechanism having a blood pump for pumping blood received from the transseptal cannula that has been oxygenated at specified flow rates over a range of physiological pressures. The blood pump is connected to the transseptal cannula. The system includes a perfusion cannula adapted to be inserted percutaneously in the axillary artery for returning oxygenated blood to the atrial system of the patient. The perfusion cannula is connected to the blood pump. A method for assisting blood flow by a patient's heart. The method includes the steps of inserting percutaneously in the jugular vein of the patient and extending through the atrial septum from the right atrium to the left atrium a transseptal cannula. Next there is the step of inserting percutaneously in the axillary artery a perfusion cannula for returning oxygenated blood to the arterial system of the patient. Then there is the step of pumping blood with a blood pump connected to the transseptal cannula and the perfusion cannula at specified flow rates over a range of physiological pressures.

摘要: A compact single or multiple band antenna assembly for wireless communications devices. One multi-band embodiment includes a high frequency portion and a low frequency portion, both fed at a common point by a single feed line. Both portions may be formed as a single stamped metal part or metallized plastic part. The overall size is suitable for integration within a wireless device such as a cell phone. The low frequency portion consists of two resonant sections which are stagger tuned to achieve a wide resonant bandwidth, thus allowing greater tolerance for manufacturing variations and temperature than a single resonant section, and is useful for single band antennas as well as multi-band antennas where it may be used to enhance bandwidth for both sections of a dual band antenna as well. The resonant sections for single or multi-band antennas operate in conjunction with a second planar conductor, which may be provided by the ground trace portion of the printed wiring board of a wireless communications device. The antenna assembly provides a moderate front-to-back ratio of 3-12 dB and forward gain of +1 to +5 dBi. The front to back ratio reduces the near field toward the user of a hand held wireless communications device, thus reducing SAR (specific absorption rate) of RF energy by the body during transmit. The antenna pattern beam width and bandwidth are increased for a handset during normal user operation, as compared to a half wave dipole.

摘要: An antenna assembly including a pair of sheet conductive elements directed in divergent directions, with the conductive elements including a conical sheet conductor and a cylindrical sheet conductor, and a plurality of radiating conductors conductively attached to and extending away from the sheet conductors. A feed point is defined between the conical sheet conductors of the pair of conductive elements. A balun is coupled to the feed point and a tubular radome protects at least portions of the plurality of radiating conductors.

摘要: A multimodal network element facilitates concurrent multimodal communication sessions through differing user agent programs on one or more devices. For example, a user agent program communicating in a voice mode, such as a voice browser in a voice gateway that includes a speech engine and call/session termination, is synchronized with another user agent program operating in a different modality, such as a graphical browser on a mobile device. The plurality of user agent programs are operatively coupled with a content server during a session to enable concurrent multimodal interaction.
