    Abstract: A sealed latch assembly for a vehicle closure panel is provided. The latch assembly includes a housing having an internal cavity sized for receipt of internal components of the latch assembly. A cover is attached to the housing to enclose at least a portion of the internal cavity. At least one release cable is configured for operable connection to at least one of the internal components. A water shield is attached to the cover. The water shield has at least one opening sized for receipt of the release cable therethrough. At least one seal member is configured to form a water-tight seal between the housing and the cover and/or between the water shield and the cover and/or between the at least one opening and the at least one release cable.

    Abstract: A power closure latch assembly with a manually actuatable release link, vehicle door therewith and method of allowing a power actuatable closure latch assembly to be converted for selective manual actuation is provided. The release link is configured to operably communicate an actuator lever with a release lever for conjoint movement therebetween, to provide power-assisted movement of a pawl between ratchet releasing and ratchet holding positions, when the release link is in a “normal” first operating position. The release link is further configured to allow the release lever to move independently from the actuator lever when the release link is in a manually deployed “override/reset” second position to provide spring-biased movement of the pawl from the ratchet releasing position back to the ratchet holding position.

    Abstract: A powered actuator for moving a motor vehicle closure member from a closed position to an open position and method of facilitating movement of the closure member therewith. Powered actuator includes an electric motor configured to rotate a driven shaft and a gearbox coupled to the driven shaft. An extensible member extends through the gearbox to a proximal end on one side of the gearbox for attachment to one of a vehicle body or the closure member and to a distal end on an opposite side of the gearbox. Extensible member is configured to move between retracted and extended positions in response to rotation of the driven shaft. A bias member is configured to impart an axially directed bias on the extensible member to facilitate controlled movement of the extensible member, while reducing the load imparted on the electric motor and the gearbox during powered movement of the closure member between the open and closed positions.
