Abstract: A first communication device generates a null data packet (NDP) announcement (NDPA) frame, which indicates that the first communication device will transmit a first NDP after transmitting the NDPA frame, and which includes information that indicates the NDPA frame is part of a ranging measurement exchange session. The first communication device transmits the NDPA frame as part of the ranging measurement exchange session, and transmits the first NDP after transmitting the NDPA frame. The first communication device receives a second NDP from a second communication device as part of the ranging measurement exchange session, and receives a feedback packet from the second communication device as part of the ranging measurement exchange session. The feedback packet includes feedback information regarding the ranging measurement exchange session.

Abstract: A first communication device includes a first timer and a second communication device includes a second timer. The first communication device receives, from the second communication device, a packet that includes a timestamp that corresponds to a least significant portion of the second timer. The first communication device determines whether a most significant bit of a least significant portion of the first timer is different than a most significant bit of the timestamp. At least when the most significant bit of the least significant portion of the first timer is different than the most significant bit of the timestamp: the first communication device determines a mathematical difference between i) the least significant portion of the first timer and ii) the timestamp, and selectively adjusts a most significant portion of the first timer based on the mathematical difference. The first communication device uses the timestamp to set the least significant portion of the first timer.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and techniques relating to a link layer service platform (LSP) that provides, among other things, assisted multi-band wireless communications are described. A described device includes a first radio to transmit and receive based on a first wireless protocol; a second radio to transmit and receive based on a second wireless protocol, the second wireless protocol being different from the first wireless protocol; and a controller to use the first radio to assist communications via the second radio. The controller can be configured to cause the first radio to transmit, receive, or both one or more control frames associated with the second wireless protocol using the first wireless protocol, and cause the second radio to transmit or receive one or more data frames using the second wireless protocol in accordance with the one or more control frames.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide an apparatus for wireless communication. The apparatus includes a transceiver and a processing circuit. The transceiver is configured to transmit and receive wireless signals. The processing circuit is configured to detect an error of a previous scheduled transmission of data units from the apparatus to another apparatus. The other apparatus provides scheduled resources for transmission between the two apparatuses. Further, the processing circuit is configured to determine resources that are scheduled by the other apparatus for the apparatus to perform retransmission, and provide one or more of the data units in the previous scheduled transmission to the transceiver for retransmission using the scheduled resources.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide an apparatus having a processing circuit and a transceiver. The processing circuit is configured to generate a frame to have an extended subtype under a control type, configure a media access control (MAC) header of the frame to indicate an extended control frame format, and configure a field of the frame to be an extended subtype field according to the extended control frame format to carry an identification for the extended subtype. The extended subtype is defined in addition to a plurality of subtypes that are identifiable using a subtype field in the frame according to a control frame format. The transceiver is configured to transmit signals to carry the frame.

Abstract: A communication device determines an estimate of a communication channel, and determines, based on the estimate of the communication channel, a plurality of pairs of modulation schemes and encoding schemes to be used for a packet, including: i) determining, for a first set of adjacent orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) subcarriers, a first pair of a modulation scheme and an encoding scheme; and ii) determining, for a second set of adjacent OFDM subcarriers, a second pair of a modulation scheme and an encoding scheme, the second pair being different than the first pair. The communication device generates the packet for transmission, wherein i) all data modulated on the first set of adjacent OFDM subcarriers is modulated and encoded using the first pair, and ii) all data modulated on the second set of adjacent OFDM subcarriers is modulated and encoded using the second pair.

Abstract: A method is carried out on a device capable of utilizing a high efficiency wireless local area network (HEW) communication protocol and a legacy communication protocol, and includes wirelessly receiving a communication frame; when the measured energy level of the frame exceeds a static clear channel assessment (CCA) energy level, identifying the BSS to which the frame corresponds, wherein identifying the BSS to which the frame corresponds comprises utilizing a BSS identifier included in the frame when the frame is an HEW frame or utilizing a MAC address included in the frame when the frame is a legacy frame; when the frame corresponds to the same BSS as the device, processing the frame utilizing the static CCA energy level; and when the frame corresponds to an overlapping OBSS, processing the frame utilizing a dynamic CCA energy level.
