Abstract: Systems, devices, and techniques relating to a link layer service platform (LSP) that provides, among other things, assisted multi-band wireless communications are described. A described device includes a first radio to transmit and receive based on a first wireless protocol; a second radio to transmit and receive based on a second wireless protocol, the second wireless protocol being different from the first wireless protocol; and a controller to use the first radio to assist communications via the second radio. The controller can be configured to cause the first radio to transmit, receive, or both one or more control frames associated with the second wireless protocol using the first wireless protocol, and cause the second radio to transmit or receive one or more data frames using the second wireless protocol in accordance with the one or more control frames.

Abstract: A method is carried out on a device capable of utilizing a high efficiency wireless local area network (HEW) communication protocol and a legacy communication protocol, and includes wirelessly receiving a communication frame; when the measured energy level of the frame exceeds a static clear channel assessment (CCA) energy level, identifying the BSS to which the frame corresponds, wherein identifying the BSS to which the frame corresponds comprises utilizing a BSS identifier included in the frame when the frame is an HEW frame or utilizing a MAC address included in the frame when the frame is a legacy frame; when the frame corresponds to the same BSS as the device, processing the frame utilizing the static CCA energy level; and when the frame corresponds to an overlapping OBSS, processing the frame utilizing a dynamic CCA energy level.

Abstract: A method for changing a first basic service set (BSS) color identifier for a first communication device identifiable by the first BSS color identifier and a first basic service set identifier that is longer than the first BSS color identifier is described. An indication that the first BSS color identifier and a second BSS color identifier for a second communication device have a same first value is received by the first communication device. Respective service coverage areas of the first and second communication devices at least partially overlap. A second value of the first BSS color identifier is determined by the first communication device in response to the indication. A notification frame that indicates the second value and a start time are generated by the first communication device. The first BSS color identifier is changed by the first communication device to the second value based on the start time.

Abstract: A wireless device including a first receiver and a second receiver. The first receiver is configured to receive a first signal transmitted on a first network using a first communication standard, and generate, in response to a signal strength of the first signal being greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold, first information about the first signal based on a first portion of the first signal. The second receiver is configured to receive a second signal transmitted on a second network using a second communication standard, and suppress interference from the first signal based on the first information about the first signal. Abstract: A method for communicating with an access point by a station. The station receives a first signal including an indication of a plurality of channels. The first signal is received from an access point. The station modifies a counter value in in response to receiving the first signal. The station further compares the counter value to a threshold value and selects a channel of the plurality of channels in response to determining the counter value corresponds to the threshold value. The station determines whether the selected channel is busy or idle. The station modifies the counter value in in response to determining that the selected channel is busy. The station transmits a second signal using the selected channel in response to determining that the selected channel is idle.

Abstract: In aspects of acknowledgement options for downlink multi-user transmission, a wireless network system includes an access point that can communicate a downlink multi-user transmission soliciting acknowledgement from one or more station devices. The access point can receive an association request or an operation mode change request frame from one or more of the station devices, and determine an acknowledgement option for each of the station devices that communicate the request to the access point. The access point can then use a multi-user transmission mode or a single user transmission mode for each of the station devices based on the acknowledgement option determined for each of the respective station devices.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for performing contention based uplink (UL) orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA). The method may include receiving, from an access point using a channel, a first signal including an indication of a first time and a plurality of sub-channels of the channel. The method may include modifying a counter value in response to determining that the first time has been reached. The method may include selecting a sub-channel of the plurality of sub-channels in response to determining the counter value is equal to a threshold value. The method may include transmitting a second signal to the access point using the sub-channel. The methods and systems disclosed herein may be used by stations to associate with the access point.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes systems and methods for performing spatial reuse using the following techniques at access points and stations. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to spatial reuse of medium with a spatial reuse opportunity announcement provided to STAs by an AP, opportunistic directional sensing performed by STAs, and a channel access method with a new backoff procedure performed by the STAs. An AP may provision a spatial reuse opportunity announcement in a beacon interval, and STAs may perform opportunistic directional sensing based on the announcement and perform channel access after performing opportunistic directional sensing.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing multi-user transmissions across different segments of a transmission medium. A connection between a first access point and a plurality of stations is established; wherein a first station of the plurality of stations detects that a primary channel of communication between the first access point and the plurality of stations is being used for transmission by a second access point. The first access point allocates a transmission channel to the first station to communicate with the first access point. The first access point determines whether an acknowledgement from the first station is received. In response to determining that the acknowledgement has been received, the first access point allocates a resource unit to the first station using the transmission channel. In response to determining that the acknowledgement has not been received, the first access point reallocates the first station to a different transmission channel.

Abstract: A method for transmitting a resource request for an uplink (UL) multi-user (MU) transmission is described. A High Throughput (HT) Control field that includes buffer information corresponding to media access control (MAC) protocol data units (MPDUs) that are queued for transmission by a first communication device is generated by the first communication device. The buffer information indicates a number of bytes for the MPDUs that are queued for transmission. A resource request MPDU that includes the HT Control field is generated by the first communication device. The resource request MPDU is transmitted by the first communication device to a second communication device via a wireless communication channel to request an allocation of radio resources for the UL MU transmission by the second communication device.
