Abstract:
A TOY VEHICLE WHICH CAN BE PROGRAMMED TO MOVE IN A DESIRED COURSE, BY INSERTING PLUGS INTO APPROPRIATE HOLES IN A PROGRAMMING WHEEL. THE PROGRAMMING WHEEL HAS THREE CONCENTRIC GROUPS OF HOLES, TO RECEIVE PLUGS TO DESIGNATE A LEFT TURN, RIGHT TURN, OR STRAIGHT-AHEAD MOVEMENT. THE PROGRAMMING WHEEL IS SLOWELY TURNED SO THAT IT MAKES ONE REVOLUTION WHILE THE VEHICLE MAKES ONE COMPLETE RUN ALONG ITS ROUTE, THE WHEEL BRINGING THE PLUGS SUCCESSIVELY INTO POSITION TO DIRECT THE COURSE OF THE VEHICLE. TWO SETS OF CAMS POSITIONED BELOW THE PROGRAMMING WHEEL ARE MOVED BY THE PLUGS TO TURN THE VEHICLE WHEELS, EACH SET OF CAMS INCLUDING A TURNING CAM WHICH CAN STEER THE VEHICLE AT A PREDETERMINED ANGLE, AND A RETURN CAM WHICH IS STRUCK BY A PLUG A PREDETERMINED TIME AFTER THE TURNING CAM IS STRUCK, TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO ITS STRAIGHT-AHEAD POSITION AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS TURNED APPROXIMATELY 90* FROM ITS PREVIOUS DIRECTION.
Abstract:
A toy for motivating unpowered miniature toy vehicles along a roadway wherein a pivoted cocking arm mounted in a housing is manually moved to pull a vehicle accelerating assembly, against a predetermined biasing force, along a rising track until an assembly carried latch pin rests in a shallow notch of a housing mounted cam surface to hold the assembly in a cocked position with its front portion extending downwardly toward the roadway. A vehicle moving along the roadway will contact this portion causing it to rise and free the latch pin from the hollow notch thereby releasing the accelerating assembly and allowing it to be rapidly moved along the track by the biasing force. The assembly includes a lower extending cushioned portion which contacts and pushes the rear end of the triggering vehicle and accelerates it along the roadway in a stable condition.

AN ANIMATED DOLL ENERGIZABLE BY A REVERSIBLE DC MOTOR SELECTIVELY ANIMATING A STEPPING MOTION OR A ROTATIONAL MOTION WITH HEAD-SPOTTING. THE DOLL INCLUDES A ROTATABLY SHAFT WHICH IS MOVABLE ALONG ITS AXIS OF ROTATION FROM A NEUTRAL POSITION TO AN UPWARD POSITION IN WHICH THE SHAFT ENGAGES A CRANKSHAFT ASSEMBLY TO CAUSE THE DOLL''S LEGS TO MOVE WITH RESPECT TO THE DOLL''S TORSO TO PRODUCE A STEPPING MOTION. THE ROTATABLE SHAFT IS ALSO MOVABLE TO A DOWNWARD POSITION IN WHICH THE SHAFT DRIVINGLY ENGAGES A FLOOR-CONTACTING MEMBER WHICH IS INHIBITED FROM ROTATING THEREBY CAUSING THE DRIVE TRAIN AND THE MOTOR''S HOUSING, WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE DOLL''S TORSO, TO ROTATE AND TO ROTATE THE TORSO THEREWITH . THE DOLL''S HEAD IS COUPLED TO THE TORSO WITH A TORSION SPRING, WHICH FORMS PART OF A HEAD-SPOTTING ASSEMBLY. THE LATTER IS USED TO INHIBIT THE ROTATION OF THE HEATED DURING A FIXED PRESELECTED PORTION OF EACH REVOLUTION OF THE DOLL''S TORSO.
