To provide a method and facility for enabling CO2 gas generated in a cement manufacturing facility to be separated and recovered at a high concentration. To this end, according to the present invention, the calcination of a cement material and the recovery of CO2 gas generated in a calciner are performed by one of the following steps of: [1] superheating the cement material before calcination to at least the calcination temperature thereof in a superheating furnace and then mixing the superheated cement material with a new cement material before calcination in a mixer/calciner; [2] mixing, in the mixer/calciner, the cement material before calcination with a part of high-temperature cement clinker discharged from a cement kiln; and [3] using an externally heated calciner.

There is provided a method for operating a cement plant capable of simultaneously optimizing both combustion in a calciner and a heat consumption rate. The method for operating a cement plant includes: feeding first fuel to a calciner; feeding second fuel for maintaining the inside at a burning temperature to a cement kiln along with combustion primary air, and introducing air for cooling cement clinker to a cooler; and feeding a part of the air as secondary air to the cement kiln, feeding as tertiary air to the calciner, and discharging the rest of the air from the cooler, wherein relation between a first oxygen concentration at an exhaust gas outlet of the calciner and a heat consumption rate determined by the first fuel and the second fuel, and relation between a second oxygen concentration at an exhaust gas outlet of the preheater and the heat consumption rate are beforehand obtained, and amounts of the secondary air and the tertiary air are adjusted such that both the first oxygen concentration and the second oxygen concentration fall within a range including values of the oxygen concentrations at which the heat consumption rate becomes at its minimum.

The present invention includes: feeding a cement material before calcination and a heat medium which has a particle diameter larger than that of the cement material and has been heated to the calcination temperature or higher in a medium-heating furnace (14), to a mixing calciner (12); and recovering the CO2 gas generated by the calcination of the cement material. The heat medium circulates between the medium-heating furnace and the mixing calciner. Another aspect of the present invention includes: feeding a cement material before calcination to a regenerative calciner (112) which has been heated to the calcination temperature or higher and has stored heat therein; and recovering the CO2 gas generated by the calcination of the cement material.
