Abstract:
MODIFIED OXYMETHYLENE HOMOPOLYMERS AND COPOLYMERS HAVING PARTICULAR TERMINAL GROUPS AND CHARACTERIZED BY CONTROLLED MOLECULAR WEIGHT AND INCREASED THERMAL STABILITY ARE OBTAINED BY POLYMERIZING TRIOXANE OR MIXTURES THEREOF WITH OTHER MONOMERS IN THE PRESENCE OF PARTICULAR CHAIN-TRANSFER AGENTS.
Abstract:
A catalyst which is stereospecific in respect of polymerizing butadiene to the cis-1:4-structure comprises a hydrocarbon soluble cobalt dinitrosyl halide (excluding the fluoride) and a Group II or III organometallic compound (e.g. of Al, Be, Zn, Ng or Ca, such as Al dialkyl monochloride, specifically AlEt2Cl) in a hydrocarbon solvent which may be aliphatic (e.g. propane, butane or n-heptane) or aromatic (e.g. benzene) or monomeric butadiene. Preferably the concentration of Co compound does not exceed 0,2 millimols per litre of solvent. Specifications 833,831 and 873,046 are referred to.
