Abstract:
A catalyst which is stereospecific in respect of polymerizing butadiene to the cis-1:4-structure comprises a hydrocarbon soluble cobalt dinitrosyl halide (excluding the fluoride) and a Group II or III organometallic compound (e.g. of Al, Be, Zn, Ng or Ca, such as Al dialkyl monochloride, specifically AlEt2Cl) in a hydrocarbon solvent which may be aliphatic (e.g. propane, butane or n-heptane) or aromatic (e.g. benzene) or monomeric butadiene. Preferably the concentration of Co compound does not exceed 0,2 millimols per litre of solvent. Specifications 833,831 and 873,046 are referred to.
Abstract:
An improved process for bonding natural or synthetic fibers to elastomeric copolymers of ethylene and higher alpha-olefins or to terpolymers of ethylene, higher alpha-olefins and cyclic or acyclic dienes having non-conjugated double bonds is disclosed. The process comprises coating the fibers with an aqueous dispersion of phenol-aldehyde resin and a latex of an elastomeric ethylene copolymer or terpolymer as defined above which is grafted with an acid, water-soluble vinyl or vinylidene monomer, the aqueous dispersion having been allowed to mature for from 10 to 80 hours after preparation thereof. After the fibers are coated with the aqueous dispersion and dried, an elastomeric ethylene copolymer or terpolymer as defined above and containing a vulcanizing agent is contacted therewith and vulcanized thereon.
Abstract:
THERE ARE DISCLOSED HIGH-MOLECULAR WEIGHT COPOLYMERS AND MORE PARTICULARLY SUBSTANTIALLY LINEAR, AMORPHOUS COPOLYMERS OF A METHYL-SUBSTITUTED TETRAHYDROINDENE AND AT LEAST ONE MONOMER SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF ETHYLENE AND HIGHER ALPHA-OLEFINS OF THE GENERAL FORMULA R-CH=CH2 IN WHICH R IS AN ALKYL GROUP CONTAINING FROM 1 TO 6 CARBON ATOMS, WHICH ARE CAPABLE OF BEING VULCANIZED. THERE IS ALSO DISCLOSED A PROCESS FOR PREPARING THE LINEAR, AMORPHOUS, HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT COPOLYMERS CAPABLE OF BEING VULCANIZED. THE PROCESS COMPRIESES THE USE OF CATALYSTS ACTING WITH A COORDINATED ANIONIC MECHANISM.
Abstract:
A NEW COMPSITION OF MATTER COMPRISING A COPOLYMER OF ACRYLONITRILE AND AN ENAMINE HAVING THE GENERAL FORMULA:
R-C(-R'')=C(-R")-X
WHEREIN R IS AN ALIPHATIC, CYCLOALIPHATIC OR AROMATIC HYDORCARBON RESIDUE, R'' AND R" MAY BE THE SAME OR DIFFERENT, AND ARE ALIPHATIC, CYCLOALIPHATIC OR AROMATIC HYDROCARBON RESIDUES OR HYDROGEN AND X IS A RADICAL DERIVED FROM A SECONDARY AMINE BY REMOVAL OF THE HYDROGEN ATOM BOUND TO THE NITROGEN ARE DISCLOSED. COPOLYMER IS PREPARED BY REACTING ACRYLONITRILE AND THE ENAMINE IN THE PRESENCE OF A FREE RADICAL INITIATOR.
