    摘要: A molded article of plastic having on its surface a cured film of a coating material comprising at least 30% by weight of at least one polyfunctional compound selected from the group consisting of poly-methacryloyloxy compounds having a molecular weight of 250 to 800 and containing at least three methacryloyloxy groups in the molecule and poly-acryloyloxy compounds having a molecular weight of 250 to 800 and containing at least three acryloyloxy groups in the molecule, and optionally 0.01 to 5% by weight of a fluorine-containing surfactant and 0.01 to 5% by weight of a carbonyl compound as photosensitizer has improved surface characteristics, particularly a high surface hardness, a high surface smoothness, high heat resistance, high abrasion resistance and a minimized optical distortion. Said molded article of plastic having improved surface characteristics can be prepared by coating the molded substrate of plastic with said coating material to a thickness of 1 to 50.mu. and then subjecting the coated article to a light of 2,000 to 8,000 A in an inert atmosphere to cure the coating material.

    摘要: A process for producing a synthetic resin article having an excellent resistance to surface abrasion is described which is characterized by having a synthetic resin surface layer, firmly adhered to the base resin, the synthetic resin surface layer comprising a polymer or copolymer containing at least 40% by weight in polymerized form of at least one compound having a total of at least three acryloxy (CH.sub.2 .dbd.CH.CO.0-) and/or methacryloxy (CH.sub.2 .dbd.CH(CH.sub.3)CO.O-) groups in the molecule. The article is prepared by (1) forming the above synthetic resin layer on the inner surface of a mold and then, charging a monomer for base resin into the mold and polymerizing the monomer, or (2) directly forming the synthetic resin surface layer on the surface of a synthetic resin shaped article.

    摘要: A plastic article having improved surface characteristics comprises a plastic body having adhered thereon a cross-linked film of a composition comprising (A) 10 to 90 parts by weight of a cross-linking unsaturated compound having a molecular weight of M and containing in the molecule N polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated radicals (N being an integer of 2 or more), the ratio of said molecular weight, M, to said number, N, of ethylenically unsaturated radicals (M/N) being about 49 to about 600, (B) 90 to 10 parts by weight of an unsaturated monomer containing in the molecule at least one radical copolymerizable with said component (A) and at least one acid radical, and (C) up to 20 parts by weight of other copolymerizable unsaturated compounds, the total of (A), (B) and (C) being 100 parts by weight, at least a part of the acid radicals contained in the film having been converted into alkali salts thereof, said cross-linked film having a thickness of 5 to 500 .mu.. The above plastic article is produced by forming on the surface of a plastic body a cross-linked film of the composition comprising the components (A), (B) and (C) and then treating the cross-linked film with a base to convert the acid radical into its alkali salt.

    摘要: A synthetic resin shaped article having a mar-resistant polymer surface layer integrated with the polymer body is provided. The mar resistant polymer surface layer consisting essentially of, in polymerized form, (a) 20 to 100 wt.% of a compound having a total of at least three acryloxy and/or metharyloxy groups linked with a straight chain aliphatic hydrocarbon residue having not more than 20 carbon atoms (the hydrocarbon residue may contain at least one ether linkage in the main chain) and (b) 0 to 80 wt.% of at least one copolymerizable mono- or diethylenically unsaturated compound.
