    摘要: A continuous material press for the production of material sheets made of substances which require a high pressure and an intensive thickness reduction during the pressing process, with the press including a heated/cooled and driven central drum, and a circulating endless steel belt tensioned around the central drum, with the material to be pressed being guided and pressed between the shell surface of the central drum and the steel belt. An additional stationary pressing device comprised of elastic steel belt sections is located outwardly of the endless steel belt and is mounted in tension to variably increase the pressure on the endless steel belt and thus on the material. An opening is formed in the steel belt section mounted in which is a pipe for delivering compressed air or water vapor to interface on the endless steel belt and the stationary steel belt section, the compressed air or water vapor forming a lubricating film for reducing friction.

    摘要: The non-profiled end portions of two pipes can be coupled to each other by a ring-shaped band which has at least one axially parallel gap and circumferentially extending corrugations defining two outer chambers and at least one median chamber. Each chamber is open toward the peripheries of the pipes and each outer chamber surrounds a different pipe. Such outer chambers contain arcuate safety devices with radially innermost portions in the form of claws serving to penetrate into the material of the respective pipes when the band is tightened around the end portions of the pipes by a clamping unit which is designed to reduce the width of the gap. The median chamber of the band confines a deformable annular insert which has marginal sealing lips and serves to establish a seal between the internal surface of the band and the peripheral surfaces of end portions of the pipes when the clamping unit is actuated to reduce the diameter of the band. Each safety device includes several arcuate sections which are connected to each other and whose median portions can be movably secured to the adjacent portions of the corresponding outermost corrugations of the band.

    摘要: A hose clip which comprises a flexible strap adapted to be placed around a selected portion of a hose and to be tightened around such selected portion by turning a bolt or screw. An elongated concavo-convex strip-shaped resilient insert is adjacent a portion of the internal surface and extends in the circumferential direction of the strap opposite the mechanism which serves to increase or reduce the effective length of the strap. The convex external surface of the insert is biased in a direction away from the adjacent portion of the internal surface of the strap by one or more springs which are disposed between the insert and the strap and are of one piece with the insert. At least one end of the insert is slidable along the strap. The spring or springs ensure that the strap does not become loose as a result of aging of the material of the adjacent portion of the hose.

    摘要: In a device (1) with a plug portion (2) and a socket portion (3) for the detachable connection particularly of the ends of high-voltage transmission lines and of the ends of low-voltage control lines, and with a mechanism for fixing the connection to prevent unintentional separation, a solution is to be provided through which the manipulation of such a coupling (3) is simplified and, particularly, a device (1) of the above-described type is made suitable also for voltages exceeding 500 volts. This is achieved by constructing the fixing mechanism as a drive element (8) which moves the device portions (2,3) relative to one another into the coupled and uncoupled positions and which locks them in the coupled position. It is also provided that socket (3) is equipped with a slide safety mechanism (23) which closes off the socket contacts in the uncoupled position and is moved by a control surface (25) on the plug (2) after an initial engagement of the two device portions into an open position facilitating the coupling.

    摘要: There is provided a continuous process for the production of water free or substantially water free peralkanoic acids with 2 to 4 carbon atoms by reaction of aqueous hydrogen peroxide with an alkanoic acid having 2 to 4 carbon atoms in the presence of acidic catalyst at a mole ratio of hydrogen peroxide to alkanoic acid of 0.5 to 30:1, preferably from 0.8 to 20:1, in a reactor by countercurrent extraction of the reaction solution with an organic solvent, recovery of a substantially water free solution of peralkanoic acid as extract and in a given case, eventually after addition of an additional solvent, dehydration of the extract by azeotropic distillation, the entire aqueous raffinate or a portion thereof is led to an evaporator unit, in which the water brought in with the starting materials and formed during the reaction is distilled off under reduced pressure, whereupon the concentrated raffinate as well as in a given case the non-concentrated portion of the raffinate is returned to the reactor and the reactor is replenished with sufficient aqueous hydrogen peroxide and alkanoic acid that the starting conditions are again produced.

    摘要: A coupling for pipes having confronting ends with conical or flat outwardly extending flanges utilizes an elastomeric sealing ring which is placed between the flanges and a variable-diameter clamping device which is positioned to surround the flanges and has two radially inwardly divergent sidewalls each of which is adjacent the exposed side of one of the flanges. The conical radially inner portions of the sidewalls engage and penetrate into the external surfaces of the pipes in response to a reduction of the diameter of the clamping device, and any further reduction of the diameter entails a movement of progressively larger parts of radially outer portions of the sidewalls into engagement with the exposed sides of the adjacent flanges to bring about radial compression of a large portion of the sealing ring.
