    摘要： One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a method for interacting with one or more client devices coupled to a smart network host device within a smart home network. The method includes the steps of identifying a first application that is associated with at least one client device and stored in an first application store coupled to a smart home network, downloading the first application from the first application store for execution, associating a service that is exposed by the at least one client device with the first application, translating a high-level instruction generated by the first application via the service to a low-level instruction that is understood by the at least one client device, and transmitting the low-level instruction to the at least one client device for processing.

    摘要： The present invention provides an automated system and method for packing chromatography columns. In one embodiment, the system first determines the type of media that is present in the column, and uses this information to generate an automated procedure to pack the specific media type. In a second embodiment, the media type is made known to the system, such as via input from the operator. The system then uses this information, in the same manner as in the first embodiment, to generate an automated procedure to pack the specific media type. Finally, in a third embodiment, parameters such as column height and rate of compression are made known to the system, such as via input from the operator. The system then packs the column in accordance with these supplied parameters.

    摘要： A standard reporting schema to represent applications and other information on a computer in a hierarchical manner, such as via an XML (extensible markup language) file. An agent or engine is provided to inventory a computer for installed applications or services and to output a report, or log file, conforming to the schema standard. A calculation may be performed on a subset of attributes stored in the log file for an application or a service so as generate a signature representing the subset. The signature may be stored with the log file, and may be accessed quickly in a database to determine whether or not the application is a particular application, or, if more particular resources are defined, to determine more specific information, such as whether the application is a particular version or run of the application.

    摘要： An architecture for exploring large design spaces is disclosed. The architecture consists of three main components. A Design Seeker methodically considers and evaluates a very large number of design candidates. A Filter based on a dominance criterion locates a relatively small number of promising candidates that are retained for further analysis. A Viewer allows a designer to examine tradeoff diagrams that present the filtered candidates for evaluation, analysis, and further exploration. The computational load of the Design Seeker may be distributed among a large number of workstations in a client-server computing environment.
