Abstract:
The present invention provides for certain polynucleotide sequences that have been correlated to AMD. These polynucleotides are useful as diagnostics, and are preferably used to fabricate an array, useful for screening patient samples. The array is used as part of a laboratory information management system, to store and process additional patient information in addition to the patient's genomic profile. As described herein, the system provides an assessment of the patient's risk for developing AMD, risk for disease progression, and the likelihood of disease prevention based on patient controllable factors.
Abstract:
The invention provides nucleic acid segments of the human genome, particularly nucleic acid segments from a gene, including polymorphic sites. Allele-specific primers and probes hybridizing to regions flanking or containing these sites are also provided. The nucleic acids, primers and probes are used in applications such as phenotype correlations, forensics, paternity testing, medicine and genetic analysis.
Abstract:
A technique includes modeling a fundamental component of a vibroseis sweep that is injected into the earth based on a ground force measurement and a reference sweep. The technique includes determining an operator to compensate seismic data acquired in response to the injected vibroseis sweep based at least in part on the reference sweep and the fundamental component, and the technique includes applying the operator to the seismic data.
Abstract:
Novel alterations in the glycerol kinase gene are described. Also described are methods of predicting or assisting in the prediction of impaired glucose tolerance and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Abstract:
A steering wheel assembly having a tuned absorber for damping a vibration of a motor vehicle. The steering wheel assembly has a hub and a substantially circular rim connected to the hub by a plurality of spokes extending between the hub and the rim. A hollow tube is affixed to an interior portion of the rim. A rigid plug is inside the hollow tube. A fluid substance is inside the hollow tube. A gaseous substance is inside the hollow tube. The gaseous substance is interposed between the fluid substance and the rigid plug.

Abstract:
Described herein are compositions, kits and methods for diagnosing and tracking the progression of AMD in a subject by detecting the presence or absence of particular lipid metabolism markers associated with AMD. Predictive computer models of disease risk are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Methods are provided of screening for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), including a risk of a subject devel - oping AMD or a risk of a subject progressing to an advanced fom of AMD. The methods can include analyzing a sample obtained from the subject for the presence of at least one single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) selected from the group consisting of rs4711751, rs6982567, rs1999930, rs13278062, rs1912795, rs2270637, rs12040406, rs1367068, rs1079982, rs1443179, rs7720497, and/or rs6 1800454.
