    摘要: This invention pertains to a device and method for making same. The device includes a substrate suitable for supporting pathways for optical signals; separate pathways disposed on the substrate suitable for propagating optical signals, the pathways including an input and an output optical pathway; and a reflective surface in operative contact with the input and output pathways for receiving an optical signal from the input pathway and reflecting the optical signal into the output pathway. The method for making the device includes the steps of providing two separate optical pathways on a single substrate, one being an input pathway and the other being an output pathway; providing a reflective surface in operative contact with the pathways whereby an input optical signal is passed through the input pathway, reflected by the reflective surface into the output pathway, and passed out of the output pathway, whereby the device can be made on a lithium niobate substrate with titanium-diffused pathways with a loss of about 1.0 dB or less, in a space that is at least ⅕ the space required by the same or similar prior art device.

    摘要: The invention relates to a fiber-lens arrangement having a fiber array with a substrate provided with a plurality of adjacent, interspaced, parallel, homogeneous V-shaped grooves for receiving and orienting the end sections of a plurality of optical fibers, and a separate lens array which matches the fiber array. The fiber array has, in a common base body, a number of lenses corresponding to the number of optical fibers. The arrangement of said lenses in the base body corresponds to the arrangement of the optical fibers in the V-shaped grooves of the fiber array on the substrate. One such fiber-lens arrangement enables a simple, precise and flexible adjustment to be carried out, using a separate adjusting mechanism for the optical orientation of the lens array on the fiber array, said adjusting means co-operating with the V-shaped grooves of the fiber array.

    摘要: The invention relates to a connector for the detachable connection of at least one light waveguide to at least one optoelectronic component, which is arranged and electrically contacted as a chip directly to the surface of a support or a circuit board and which has an optical axis perpendicular to the support or circuit board. The light waveguide is provided with a fiber-optic plug connector at the end thereof for connection. The connector includes a base piece fixed to the surface of the support or circuit board, enclosing the optoelectronic component and includes a through-hole for the optical signal for exchange between the optical component and the light waveguide. The connector device also includes a coupling piece which connects to the base piece facing outwards and which comprises a socket opening for plugging in the standardized fiber optic plug connector.
