摘要： The present invention provides a method of preparing a sized warp yarn comprising the steps of (a) preparing a warp yarn sizing composition comprising (i) a first component which is a starch material, and (ii) a second component comprising starch and a reaction product of styrene and 1,3-butadiene wherein said starch component of said second component is characterized by an intrinsic viscosity of from about 0.07 to about 0.35 dl/g, and (b) slashing warp yarn with the sizing composition of step (a).

摘要： Apparatus for collecting the surface layer of a body of liquid, e.g. a layer of oil on water comprises a first member defining a central passage which is upwardly open and is arranged in use with the opening at the level of the interface between the surface layer of liquid and the underlying layer, and a second member which defines with the first member an annular passage surrounding the central passage and provided with vanes which form the rotor of an axial pump when the two members are rotated about the axis of the central passage. This rotation causes the layer of liquid underlying the surface layer to be drawn towards the apparatus and downwardly through the annular passage to draw the surface layer of liquid into the central passage. Liquid in the central passage is pumped therefrom to a reservoir.

摘要： Coloration resistant photoconductive insulating compositions useful in making elements, such as photoconductive electrophotographic papers, are provided. Such compositions comprise (1) an electrically insulating organic binder, (2) a nitrogen-free polyaryl hydrocarbon photoconductor such as those having the formula ##STR1## wherein: N REPRESENTS AN INTEGER HAVING A VALUE OF 0, 1 OR 2,Ar represents an aryl group including substituted aryl such as phenyl, alkylphenyl having 1 to about 10 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety, alkoxyphenyl having 1 to about 10 carbon atoms in the alkoxy moiety, and the like,Each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 represents a hydrogen atom, an aryl group, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group and, when n is O, R.sup.1 and R.sup.4 are both aryl and when R.sup.1 and R.sup.4 are both hydrogen, each of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 represents an aryl group; and (3) a sensitizer that is substantially non-color forming in the composition. Particularly useful such sensitizers include benzopyrylium type compounds.
