摘要: A method and system for controlling a tourniquet establishes a set of values for a characteristic of an induced pressure pulse in the tourniquet while the tourniquet is inflated to a working pressure which is at a predetermined offset above the limb occlusion pressure. Maximum and minimum thresholds for this characteristic value are established, such that during the working phase of application of the tourniquet the induced pressure pulse is continually monitored and the value of the characteristic is compared to the thresholds. If a threshold is reached the tourniquet is inflated or deflated accordingly to restore the value of the characteristic to within the thresholds. The characteristic of the induced pressure pulse, which may be e.g. pulse height, area under pulse or pulse width at a percentage of peak height, may also be used to determine behaviour of the pressure pulse by noting a variation in the rate of change as the tourniquet is inflated past the limb occlusion pressure.

摘要: In a process for hydrodimerizing an olefinic nitrile, amide or ester by electrolyzing an aqueous solution of the olefinic starting material, quaternary ammonium or phosphonium cations and a conductive salt, formation of hydrogen at the cathode can be substantially inhibited and the current efficiency of the process significantly increased by including in the solution a nitrilocarboxylic acid compound such as a salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. Particularly good results are obtained when the solution also contains a boric acid, a condensed phosphoric acid or an alkali metal salt thereof.

摘要: A differential features an inexpensive lightweight housing formed of sheet material the rugged construction of which makes it extremely resistant to damage and distortion in use. The embodiment illustrated comprises a housing the peripheral wall of which is defined by a tube segment having a generally rectangular configuration. Each end of the tube segment is capped by a plate centrally contoured about a central aperture to form thereon a cup-like projection the configuration of which is that of a conically tapered, outwardly and axially directed shell the apex of which is truncated. In the case of each end plate the conically tapered shell-like projection seats and nests therein a complementarily shaped sleeve type bearing set in place by offsets of that portion of the plate which defines its base. The respective end plates and their contained bearings, as so paired, each accommodate the projection therethrough of one of the differential shafts. The adjacent ends of said shafts mount gears positioning inwardly of the tube segment to mesh with a pair of transversely spaced transfer gears. The latter freely rotate on a shaft fixed transversely of the tube segment without the need for and benefit of separate fasteners. The differential housing is shown in two forms. In the one case the housing is a single plate segment wrapped into a tubular configuration. In the other it is formed of two identical substantially U-shaped stampings the open ends of which are joined in an overlapped relation by means of offsets to give the so-combined structure not only a generally rectangular configuration but extremely high strength. Strength is added to the single plate form of the housing by application of a shallow U-shaped stamping to opposite inner wall surface portions thereof.

摘要: An example of a method for illuminating intelligent road markers to identify the location of a road user according to the disclosure includes: receiving a position identification message at a first intelligent road marker from a position identification unit associated with a road user; selecting one or more intelligent road markers proximate to the road user in response to the position identification message; and illuminating the selected one or more intelligent road markers to identify the presence of the road user on the road.
