    摘要： An information signal recording system arranged to divide original information signals into signal groups, each bearing a predetermined amount of information, to have a plurality of compressing modes for different information compressing ratios and to compress the information signals of each group in one of the different compressing ratios in recording these signals on a tape-shaped magnetic recording medium comprises first compressed information signal forming means which operates on all these groups to form and produce a first compressed information signal consisting of only the information signals of a specific part of each of these groups; second compressed information signal forming means which operates on some of these groups to form and produce a second compressed information signal consisting of information signals of each groups excluding the information signals of the specific part; a magnetic head which records signals on the tape-shaped magnetic recording medium by tracing the medium in a direction of crossing the longitudinal direction of the medium; and supply means for supplying the magnetic head with the first and second compressed information signals by switching them from one over to the other at every half of the medium tracing period of the magnetic head.

    摘要： An image transmitting apparatus for digitizing a still-picture television signal, a manuscript image signal or the like and transmitting the digitized signal over a line is adapted to read an analog image signal stored in video memory such as a video disk, convert the read analog image signal into a digitized multi-valued signal and store the multi-valued image signal in an image memory. On the basis of paper size on which printing is to be performed by an apparatus, such as a facsimile machine, on the receiving side, the number of pixels constituting the multi-valued image signal stored in the image memory and an ensuing binary coding method, a ratio is obtained at which the multi-valued image signal stored in the image memory is to be expanded or compressed, and the multi-valued image signal is expanded or compressed based on this ratio. The multi-valued image signal thus expanded or compressed is binary coded as by a dither method, and the binary-coded image data are transmitted to the facsimile machine on the receiving side through a line.

    摘要： A recording and/or reproducing apparatus arranged to permit an interchange of record bearing media and selection between recording and reproducing modes of operation on the medium comprises look-up device for looking up the presence or absence of an existing record in each recording or reproducing position on the record bearing medium loaded on the apparatus, and control unit arranged to control the look-up device to cause it to perform a look-up action in response to opening of a lid for replacement of the record bearing medium and to cut off the power supply upon completion of the look-up action. The control unit thus lowers electric energy consumption and saves electric energy from being wasted by the look-up action.
