A method for manufacturing a liquid discharge head comprises the steps of providing a head main body having liquid flow paths, and an aperture surface having flow path openings communicated with the flow paths; providing a discharge port plate having extrusions each on the circumference of an inside opening communicated with each of the discharge ports, being on the inner face on the side opposite to the discharge port surface provided with discharge ports for discharging liquid, and a base having a substantially flat surface. For this method, the discharge port plate is arranged in a state of these surfaces formed integrally to be in contact; bonding the aperture surface and the inner face to fit the extrusions into the flow path openings by pressing the head main body and the base in the direction of the head main body and the base approaching each other with the discharge port plate between them; and separating the base from other members. With the method of manufacture thus structure, the liquid discharge head presents an excellent discharge efficiency by the provision of the extrusions that enter the flow paths from the orifice plate. It also becomes possible to manufacture a highly reliable liquid discharge head by a simpler manufacturing apparatus in a shorter period of time at lower costs.

A method for producing a liquid discharge head provided with a head main body including plural energy generating elements for generating energy for discharging liquid as a flying liquid droplet, and plural liquid paths in which the energy generating elements are respectively provided, and an orifice plate adjoined to the head main body and provided with plural discharge ports respectively communicating with the liquid paths and plural independent projections formed around the discharge ports and respectively corresponding to the discharge ports so as to enter into the liquid paths and to engage therewith. The method includes steps of forming the plural projections and the discharge ports while a continuous resinous film is transported; separating the film in a continuous manner in a predetermined size including the portion on which the discharge ports are formed, thereby preparing the orifice plate; and adjoining the orifice plate to the head main body.

It is an object of the present invention to ensure a desired precision in positioning an orifice plate with respect to liquid flow paths of a head main body, so as to prevent a failure liquid discharge which will possibly be caused due to a problem involved in a process of forming the orifice holes. In detail, a head main body is formed on the lower wall thereof a plurality of heating elements, has a plurality of liquid flow paths formed by dividing an internal space with a plurality of liquid flow path walls and arranged in parallel relationship with one another. On either side of the plurality of the liquid flow paths there are formed two dummy liquid flow paths. An orifice plate is formed with a plurality of orifice holes arranged in parallel with one another for discharging ink. Further, on either side of the plurality of the orifice holes there are formed two projected portions so shaped that they are capable of engaging with the opening ends of the dummy liquid flow paths. Each of the projected portions is formed with a dummy orifice hole which is not used for discharging ink during recording operation. A desired positioning can be effected by engaging the projected portions of the orifice plate with the dummy liquid flow paths.

In a printing apparatus using a plurality of heating elements as printing elements, there are provided CCD elements for storing electric charges whose quantity correspond to temperatures in correspondence to each of the printing elements, and for sequentially transferring these electric charges. As a printing head driving apparatus, an analog shift register having a series of CCD elements is employed in order to perform data transfer operation, data alignment, and driving operations of the respective printing elements. Also, the above-described CCD elements are commonly used with CCD elements for storing and transferring temperature data. As a result, a compact printing apparatus can be made while suppressing shading in images caused by temperature increasing due to the driving operation of the printing elements.

A method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head, having the steps of forming an ink flow path pattern on a substrate with the use of a dissoluble resin, the substrate having ink ejection pressure generating elements thereon, forming on the ink flow path pattern a coating resin layer, which will serve as ink flow path walls, by dissolving in a solvent a coating resin containing an epoxy resin which is solid at ordinary temperatures, and then solvent-coating the solution on the ink flow path pattern, forming ink ejection outlets in the coating resin layer above the ink ejection pressure generating elements, and dissolving the ink flow path pattern.

A method of fabricating an ink jet recording head includes forming a photosensitive resin layer on a substrate having formed thereon an energy generation device for generating energy for ejecting recording droplets; pattern-wise exposing the photosensitive resin layer to an active radiation to a portion of the photosensitive resin layer where formation of a pattern of an ink fluid path is desired; laminating a top plate on the photosensitive resin layer; and eluting the pattern exposed portion of the photosensitive resin layer to form a pattern of an ink fluid path. An ink jet recording head includes a substrate a substrate; an energy generation device provided on the substrate and for generating energy for ejecting recording droplets; an exposed photosensitive resin layer provided on the substrate, the resin layer comprising a heat-crosslinking positive type resist material, and being provided with an ink fluid path defined between the substrate and the exposed photosensitive resin layer; a top plate laminated on the exposed photosensitive layer, the top plate being provided with an ink supply port communicating with the ink fluid path; and the ink fluid path ending as an ink ejection port on a side opposite to a side of the ink supply port. An ink jet recording apparatus includes a portion for mounting such an ink jet recording head.

A printing apparatus comprises: a temperature sensor configured to detect an environmental temperature of the printing apparatus; a suction unit configured to suck ink from a printhead according to a target suction amount indicating amount of ink that the suction unit should suck per unit time at a predetermined environmental temperature; and a controller configured to cause the suction unit to suck ink such that the target suction amount in a case where the environmental temperature is higher than a predetermined temperature is greater than the target suction amount in a case where the environmental temperature is lower than the predetermined temperature.

While the print head is reduced in size, the adverse effect of air flows produced by ink droplets as they are ejected from a small number of ejection opening arrays is minimized. A small number of first ejection opening arrays eject one of three primary colors—cyan, magenta and yellow—and a large number of second and third ejection opening arrays eject the remaining two primary colors. A fourth ejection opening array is disposed between the first ejection opening array and the second or third ejection opening array.
