摘要： A process for the preparation of ethers is described, comprising reacting an alcohol with an organic sulfonyl halide in a solvent in the presence of an alkali to form a sulfonate, and then reacting the sulfonate with a phenol, wherein the alkali is an inorganic base selected from hydroxides and carbonates of sodium and potassium, and the solvent is a polar solvent. These ethers are useful as additives for use in recording materials, particularly heat-sensitive recording materials.
