    Abstract: A high speed optical analog/digital conversion process with a simple configuration, in which an optical-pulse branching delay multiplexer generates as many duplicates of each optical pulse as the predetermined number of bits by branching each optical pulse string obtained by sampling an input optical analog signal, and generates a temporally consecutive optical pulse string by multiplexing the duplicated optical pulses with a predetermined intensity difference and time difference. An optical encoder and an optical-threshold processing unit perform an encoding and a quantization of an optical pulse string, and output an optical digital signal corresponding to the optical analog signal.

    Abstract: A heat-sensitive recording material comprising a support having provided thereon a heat-sensitive color-forming layer which contains a colorless or slightly colored electron-donating dye precursor and an electron-accepting compound capable of reacting with the electron-donating dye precursor to form color, wherein the heat-sensitive color-forming layer further contains at least one of the compounds represented by the general formulae (I) to (VI) shown in the specification and at least one of the compounds represented by the general formulae (VIII) to (XII) shown in the specification, or wherein the heat-sensitive color-forming layer further contains about 0.5 wt % to less than about 20 wt %, based on the electron-accepting compound, of the compound represented by the general formula (XIII) shown in the specification. The heat-sensitive recording material obtained provides a high density color image and does not undergo a decrease in heat responsibility and an increase in background fog formation.

    Abstract: A heat-sensitive recording sheet comprised of a support base having a heat-sensitive color forming layer thereon is disclosed. The layer is comprised of an electron donating dye, an electron accepting compound which reacts with the dye to form a color and a surface active agent. The surface active agent has a structure of ##STR1## as a hydrophobic atomic group, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently represent an alkyl group having 3 to 18 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 18 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 7 to 18 carbon atoms, or a cycloalkyl group having 5 to 10 carbon atoms. The heat-sensitive recording sheet has high sensitivity, produces high density color images and results a reduced amount of background fog.

    Abstract: A photoimaging material which comprises a support and a photoimaging layer formed on the support. The photoimaging layer comprises microcapsules and a reducing agent present outside the microcapsules. The microcapsules contain a leuco dye capable of oxidative color formation, a photooxidizing agent and an organosulfur antioxidant. The reducing agent is 2,2′-methylenebis(4-methyl-6-t-butylphenol) or 2,2′-methylenebis(4-ethyl-6-t-butylphenol). The photoimaging material is capable of thermal image fixing based on a method of forming color by radical oxidation of various leuco dyes to the corresponding dyes with a photooxidizing agent. The photoimaging material is not prone to background coloring (fogging) during storage under dark or light conditions after image fixing, and does not foul the inside of the apparatus during thermal image fixing.
