    摘要: A light-emitting diode-based light source (40) for retro-fitting into a traffic signal lamp (10) employing an incandescent light bulb (12) includes at least one light emitting diode (LED) (46), a dispersing reflector (62) cooperating with the at least one LED (46) to adapt light (60) produced by the at least one LED (46) for receipt by optics of the traffic signal lamp (10), and a screw-type electrical connector (42) adapted to mate with a threaded socket connector (18) of the traffic signal lamp (10). The screw-type electrical connector (42) is adapted to transmit electrical power to the at least one LED (46). A method (100) is provided for the retro-fitting, including the step (104) of removing the threaded light bulb (12) from the threaded socket (18), and the step (106) of connecting the threaded LED light source (40) into the threaded socket (18).

    摘要: An assembly and a method for attaching a sign-type lighting fixture to an electrical box. The assembly includes a lighting fixture having a mounting plate affixed to the electrical box, an illuminating sign, and a canopy affixed to the lighting fixture, allowing the canopy and the mounting plate to attach quickly. The method first includes affixing a mounting plate to an electrical box and affixing a canopy to a sign-type lighting fixture. Next, the canopy is secured to the mounting plate by inserting at least one wing tab from the canopy through at least one holding tab on the mounting plate. Then, the electrical wiring is connected. After that the wing tab and holding tab are separated. Finally, the wing tab is inserted into at least one offset on the mounting plate, and the canopy is secured to the mounting plate.

A diffusion surface on the cover diffuses the display aspect, obscuring the individual LEDs. The mask is spaced a distance from the diffusing surface. The more aggressive the diffusion pattern the closer the mask is spaced to the diffusion pattern. Preferably, the ratio of the pitch of the optical elements to the width of the symbol at the diffusion surface is less than 1:2, preferably less than 1:4, more preferably less than 1:6 and most preferably approximately 1:10.

A single printed circuit board populated with both the power supply circuitry and the light emitting diodes is located at an increased distance from the front cover which is angled to direct extraneous light away from the viewers position. A snap together housing reduces overall cost and assembly time. Light from the light emitting diodes distributed across the single printed circuit board to project an overlapping light pattern is collimated by a multiple collimating zone optical element which creates a uniform display aspect without discernable individual points of light.

    摘要: An emergency light fixture includes at least two light sources and a reflector. The light sources are disposed within the reflector. The reflector includes a first concave surface formed by rotating a first parabola about a first central axis of the first parabola, a second concave surface formed by rotating a second parabola about a second central axis of the second parabola, and a third concave surface formed by translating a third parabola along a substantially straight line. The third concave surface intersects the first concave surface and the second concave surface. The light sources may be disposed at the foci of the first and second parabolas or offset from the foci. The first and second central axes may be oriented at symmetrical angles with respect to a plane bisecting the third parabola. The reflector preferably has no convex joints. The first, second, and third parabolas may be degenerated. A third light source may be disposed within the third concave surface.
