    摘要: In an electrographic reproduction apparatus having a media transport mechanism for transporting media into operative association with a plurality of different color electrographic process modules, a mechanism for providing image density control signals to the logic and control unit. At least one densitometer is provided for sensing image density control patches on the media transport mechanism and producing signals representative of the density of the such image for the logic and control unit. The electrographic process modules are enabled to generate/print respectively uniform image density control patches periodically on the media transport mechanism where the patches can be read by the densitometer for providing signals to the logic and control unit for controlling print control parameters to maintain correct image density, the patches being generated/printed, one for each color, during each revolution of the media transport mechanism, in the same respective interframe following the seam on the media transport mechanism.

    摘要: The present invention provides an electrophotographic (EP) image-forming machine and related method having activation of a charger cleaner in a corona charger after an arcing fault. The corona charger has corona wires connected to a high voltage potential supply, preferably providing a voltage in the range of about 5 to 11 kva or in the range of about 13,000 to 22,000 volts peak-to-peak. A corona voltage detection circuit is connected to measure current changes in the high voltage potential supply. A grid has a preselected electric potential to control the charge. The grid may be grounded, but preferably is connected to a power supply providing a voltage in the range of about 300 to 900 volts. A grid voltage detection circuit is connected to measure current changes in the power supply. The voltage detection circuits provide a voltage signal to a microprocessor. When arcing occurs, the microprocessor cycles the EP image-forming machine into a standby mode. The charger cleaning apparatus is activated to clean the charger. When the cleaning is completed, the EP image-forming machine returns to normal operation. In a further aspect of the present invention, the image-forming process stops when arcing occurs. The charger is cleaned. Any prints affected by the arcing are disposed. The image-forming process restarts at the image frame where the arc occurred.

    摘要: An apparatus is disclosed for coating magnetic dispersion coatings on a continuously moving web substrate wherein regions of high shear are provided both before and after a magnetic dispersion application region. The coating apparatus comprises a die unit having a magnetic dispersion inlet and outlet, a concave lip extending arcuately from the outlet of the die unit, and a cylindrical backing roller adjacent the die unit, the die unit having an internal region of high shear, the concave lip and the cylindrical backing roller sharing a substantially common axis and forming a region of high shear in the form of a narrow gap. A coat hanger distribution chamber or cavity is also provided within the die unit between the magnetic dispersion inlet and the magnetic dispersion outlet. To even out pressure differences, a healing slot or cavity and/or a rotating bar within a cylindrical distribution chamber may be provided downstream of the coat hanger distribution chamber.

    摘要: A computer disk of the type having a central drive hub comprised at least in part of ferromagnetic metal to clamp the disk to a magnet spindle drive is provided with a ring-shaped amorphous ferromagnetic surveillance marker between the hub flange and the disk substrate. The hub metal has a high permeability, e.g. .gtoreq.2,000 to concentrate the drive magnet field in the hub, when the disk is in the disk drive, thereby to eliminate fringe fields that would magnetize the marker. This is to allow the use of a low magnetic field intensity sensor in the sensor to detect the presence of the marker to enable recording of data on the disk. The hub metal also has a coercivity between the coercivity of the marker and the intensity of the magnetic field employed in the interrogation zone of an area surveillance portal to eliminate the effect of any residual magnetism on the hub metal caused by the drive magnet thereby to enhance the detectability of the marker by the portal.
