A mobile communication device including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a service network. The controller determines whether a Radio Resource Control (RRC) security has been activated between the mobile communication device and the service network when receiving measurement configuration from the service network via the wireless transceiver. In response to the RRC security not having been activated and location information of the mobile communication device being present, the controller sends a first measurement report not including the location information of the mobile communication device to the service network via the wireless transceiver, or the controller does not send a second measurement report including the location information of the mobile communication device to the service network via the wireless transceiver.
Abstract:
A communications apparatus includes a radio transceiver and a processor. The radio transceiver is configured for transmitting or receiving wireless radio frequency signals to or from a peer device. The processor determines whether re-synchronization in a communication mode with the peer device is required according to a determination rule. When the re-synchronization is required, the processor transmits a message to the peer device via the radio transceiver to trigger a re-synchronization procedure. The processor determines whether the re-synchronization is required in a connected mode.

A mobile communication device for avoiding location exposure in a User Equipment (UE) information procedure includes a wireless transceiver, configured to perform wireless transmission and reception to and from a service network. The device also includes a controller, configured to determine whether a Radio Resource Control (RRC) security has been activated between the mobile communication device and the service network, and in response to the RRC security not having been activated and location information of the mobile communication device being present, send a first measurement report without the location information of the mobile communication device to the service network via the wireless transceiver or does not send a second measurement report comprising the location information of the mobile communication device to the service network via the wireless transceiver after receiving measurement configuration message.

The controller determines, during an ongoing Non-Access Stratum (NAS) procedure, whether a SECURITY MODE COMMAND message received from the service network via the wireless transceiver fails an integrity protection check and no RRC CONNECTION RELEASE message has been received from the service network via the wireless transceiver, or whether transmission of a SECURITY MODE COMPLETE message to the service network via the wireless transceiver has failed. Also, the controller locally releases a connection to the service network when the SECURITY MODE COMMAND message fails the integrity protection check and no RRC CONNECTION RELEASE message has been received, or when the transmission of the SECURITY MODE COMPLETE message has failed.

The method and apparatus for CSFB are provided. The method for processing a Circuit Switched Fallback (CSFB) procedure in a user equipment (UE) includes the steps of receiving the switching command when the CSFB procedure is triggered to establish a CS call, and searching for a 2G/3G cell, when the UE fails to fall back to a target cell indicated by the switching command. In addition, the method for CSFB further includes the step of initiating a timer when the UE fails to fall back to the target cell indicated by the switching command, and searching for the 2G/3G cell until the timer is expired.

The method includes receiving, by the user equipment, a measurement configuration message that specifies a set of measurement events corresponding to poor signal quality between the user equipment and a packet-switched network, and sending, by the user equipment, a measurement report when one of the set of measurement events occurs while performing a first call setup process for setting up the call using the packet-switched network. The method also includes terminating the first call setup process after sending the measurement report that indicates poor signal quality between the user equipment and the packet-switched network, and sending, by the user equipment, a service request to begin a second call setup process for setting up the call for the user equipment using a circuit-switched network after terminating the first call setup process.

A mobile communication device including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a service network. The controller operates in a connected mode with a connection to the service network, and determines whether there is no active data traffic in a first period of time when operating in the connected mode. In response to there being no active data traffic in the first period of time, the controller performs a local release of the connection or sends a measurement report to trigger the service network to release the connection.

A wireless communication method and device are provided. The wireless communication method includes the steps of receiving a plurality of measurement results; determining whether a cell-change event is triggered according to the measurement results; calculating a reverse-direction criterion to determine whether a ping-pong effect will occur when the cell-change event is triggered; and terminating the cell-change event when the ping-pong effect will occur.
