Abstract: A method for monitoring a cardiovascular pressure in a patient includes measuring, by pressure sensing circuitry of an implantable pressure sensing device, the cardiovascular pressure of the patient. The method further includes transmitting, via wireless communication circuitry of the implantable pressure sensing device, the measured cardiovascular pressure to another device. The method further includes determining, by processing circuitry of the other device, whether a posture of the patient at a time of the measured cardiovascular pressure was a target posture for cardiovascular pressure measurements. The method further includes determining, by the processing circuitry of the other device, whether to store or discard the transmitted cardiovascular pressure based on determining whether the posture was the target posture.

Abstract: An extra-cardiovascular implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) having a high voltage therapy module is configured to control a high voltage charging circuit to charge a capacitor to a pacing voltage amplitude to deliver charge balanced pacing pulses. The capacitor is chargeable to a shock voltage amplitude that is greater than the pacing voltage amplitude. The ICD is configured to enable switching circuitry of the high voltage therapy module to discharge the capacitor to deliver a first pulse having a first polarity and a leading voltage amplitude corresponding to the pacing voltage amplitude for pacing the patient's heart via a pacing electrode vector selected from extra-cardiovascular electrodes. The high voltage therapy module delivers a second pulse after the first pulse. The second pulse has a second polarity opposite the first polarity and balances the electrical charge delivered during the first pulse.

Abstract: An implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) receives a cardiac electrical signal by a sensing circuit while operating in a sensing without pacing mode and detects asystole based on the cardiac electrical signal. The ICD determines, in response to detecting the asystole, if asystole backup pacing is enabled, and automatically switches to a temporary pacing mode in response to the asystole backup pacing being enabled. Other examples of detecting asystole and providing a response to detecting asystole by the ICD are described herein.

Abstract: A method and device for differentiating heart failure risk scores that includes determining receipt of a current data transmission and acquiring patient metrics from a remote monitoring device, determining a daily heart failure risk score for each day occurring during a time period from a previous received data transmission to the current received data transmission based on the acquired patient metrics, and determining a maximum daily heart failure risk score of the determined daily heart failure risk scores during a lookback window prior to the current received data transmission. A heart failure risk score is determined for the received data transmission based on the determined maximum daily heart failure risk score, and a heart failure risk score alert is determined for the received data transmission based on the proximity of the determined maximum heart failure risk score and the current received data transmission. A display of at least one of the determined heart failure risk score and the determined heart failure risk score alert is generated, and the determined daily heart failure risk score for each day occurring during the time period and the generated display are stored.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to devices, systems, and techniques for determining an efficacy of a treatment program. For example, a medical device system includes a medical device including one or more sensors configured to generate a signal that indicates a parameter of a patient. Additionally, the medical device system includes processing circuitry configured to receive data indicative of a user selection of a reference time; determine a plurality of parameter values of the parameter based on a portion of the signal corresponding to a period of time including the reference time. Additionally, the processing circuitry is configured to identify, based on a first set of parameter values, a reference parameter value, calculate a parameter change value, and determine, based on the parameter change value, whether an improvement or a worsening of the patient has occurred responsive to a treatment administered beginning at the reference time.
