Provided is an ultra-wideband pulse generator using a digital scheme. The ultra-wideband pulse generator and a method for generating an ultra-wideband pulse therein can easily generate various ultra-wideband pulses having a random center frequency and bandwidth according to digital control schemes in a pulse-based ultra-wideband wireless communication system. The ultra-wideband pulse generator includes: a pulse waveform converting block for converting digital pulse waveform information on a desired ultra-wideband pulse into pulse waveform information having positive and negative signs; an unit pulse generating block for multiplying the converted pulse waveform information by a preset short-width pulse and amplifying the resulting pulses according to gain information of the desired ultra-wideband pulse; a pulse waveform arranging block for arranging the amplified pulses at predetermined delayed intervals; and a pulse waveform shaping block for summing the arranged pulses into a single pulse and integrating the single pulse to output the desired ultra-wideband pulse.

The position tracking system includes at least one target node, a plurality of reference nodes having position information, and a position determination device. An arbitrary reference node among the reference nodes and the target node utilize a distance measurement message to measure a first time of arrival (TOA) and then transmit the first TOA to the position determination device. At least two other reference nodes adjacent to the arbitrary reference node and the target node listen to the distance measurement message to measure a second TOA and then transmit the second TOA to the position determination device, in order to track a position of the target node.

The exemplary embodiment of present invention provides a sampling device and method in a wireless communication system that is capable of precisely measuring a distance by combining data blocks passing through at least two delay paths and performing sampling thereon.To this end, the sampling device includes: a delayer that delays received signals in a block unit; a delay path selector that selects any one of a plurality of delay paths to control the delayer to apply the selected delay path to each block; a sampler that performs sampling for each block delayed by the delayer; a signal processor that combines at least two sampling blocks sampled by the sampler; and a timing tracker that tracks reception timing of the combined signal, wherein the delayer includes at least two selectable delay paths.

The present patent provides a radio communication system that can minimize power consumption by eliminating a need for carrier detection and sharing transmission/reception time information in UWB impulse communications. The system includes a network coordinator; and one or more devices communicating on a superframe basis in subordination to the network coordinator. The devices perform data transmission/reception in predetermined time slots and then they are inactivated to thereby reduce power consumption.

The transmitter of the present research provides: a serial-to-parallel converter for convening L-bit serial data to be transmitted into parallel data by performing grouping on the L-bit serial data; a multi-coder for generating a multi-coded symbol by multiplying the parallel data by total L orthogonal codes of length Ns; a bi-orthogonal pulse position modulator for positioning the multi-coded symbol in a predetermined pulse period and performing biorthogonal pulse position modulation; and a pulse generator for multiplying an output signal of the bi-orthogonal pulse position modulator by a predetermined pulse and outputting an output signal.
