A radio-frequency (RF) radiation suppressor component for use with magnetrons that reduces spurious leakage radiation by absorbing RF radiation, that seats a metal ring connector fixture for making electrical contact to the cathode of the magnetron, and that exhibits improved tolerance of higher operating voltages. An insulated RF suppressor component is comprised of an insulating sleeve member and an outer shell cladding layer made of molded composite iron powder/epoxy resin material that absorbs part of the RF radiation and thus acts as an absorber to reduce magnetron radiation leakage. The insulating sleeve end has a ridged groove indentation to seat a metal clamping ring that contacts the magnetron cathode and provides a terminal connection for the cathode voltage bias and filament heating circuit leads. Testing of prototypes indicates significant improvement in permissible operating voltages and comparable RF suppression compared to conventional RF suppressor components currently in use.

A method and apparatus for controlling conditions in a printer that includes a print engine that is operative upon an article to print marks upon the article. Sensors are provided for detecting relative humidity and temperature within a moving airstream in the printer. A controller in the printer determines if the detected relative humidity within the apparatus falls within a range of acceptable relative humidities and the detected temperature within the apparatus falls within a range of acceptable temperatures. The range of acceptable relative humidities and acceptable temperatures defines a predetermined target area. When outside the range of the predetermined target area a determination is made of needed minimal adjustments to bring the temperature and humidity within the target area. Subject to such a determination, mist and/or heating of the airstream are provided to implement the needed adjustments.

An access door cover is openable for providing access to a serviceperson to the one or more recording components and/or the recording member. A blower establishes an air path of air within the apparatus to control temperature and humidity of the recording components. The air path has a substantial current flowing in a direction transverse to the process path and over or about the recording member and/or the one or more recording components towards the access door cover. The blower, upon opening of the access door cover, establishes a substantial airflow path of air from directly outside the access door cover into the apparatus so as to reduce flow of contaminated air from the apparatus towards the serviceperson.

The instant invention employs the impressive capabilities of modern materials such as plastics, composites, and metal alloys of carrying large tension forces, enabling them to carry compression loads by converting the compressive force of internally contained pressurized fluids into distributed tension forces. The walls and membranes of the pressurized elements, and of the envelopes are not “inflated” as in structures made of flaccid or stretchable materials, but are made of substantially rigid materials whose rigidity is enhanced by the fluid pressures contained within. An important application of the principals set forth herein will be in the use of very high tensile strength materials such as titanium or aluminum that are not often considered for use in compression. The significant weight-savings so achieved make possible new applications that might include exotic airframes: lighter-than-air craft, or small robotic solar-powered aircraft to be used for survey, surveillance, or communication.

The instant invention is a method for achieving a-planar framing configurations which enable the construction of hyperbolic paraboloid surfaces, a multiplicity of which join to create roof structures and enclosures.In particular, the shaping and erecting of connected a-planar quadrilateral frames to create under-framing which can be completed by a simple in-framing, and covered with sheeting material resulting in a new method of constructing enclosures with hyperbolic paraboloid faces without the use of highly trained crews, or the need for elaborate pre-forms or specialized connecting or covering elements.The instant invention has the advantage that lateral forces are resolved directly along the leg members forming triangular openings at its periphery, and by the triangular configurations resulting when the tension restraining member is added to the framework. Triangular openings formed during construction can be used for doorways and windows without the need for dormers or skylights. The construction minimizes the number of braces and edges, there being a minimum of faces joining to form the edges. The over-all configuration is one which provides exceptional resistance to lifting or being torn apart by the wind, an anti-kiting effect which is most optimized in the preferred embodiment, due to its large volume per surface area. This space efficiency also helps to make the hypershelter more economical to build, and more environmentally friendly than conventional structures. The inherent strength afforded by its over-all shape also reduces the amount and weight of material needed. Additionally, such structures are ideal for use as roofs over other environmentally friendly enclosures, such as those made of hay bale, cob, cordwood, etc.
