摘要: A multi-information-character, surveillance imaging system and method employing a plural-imager, assembly of surveillance imagers including (a) an optical, daytime, color imager, (b) an optical, nighttime, light-intensified, black-and-white imager, and (c) a thermal imager, and featuring a pair of side-by side adjacent, readily co-viewable, video image display structures. One of these display structures is dedicated to the presentation of thermal imagery, and other is selectively and changeably dedicatable, at any time, to any one alone of the three system imagers. Interconnect structure, including a user-operable controller, operatively and communicatively interconnects the imagers and the display structures in a manner permitting selective user switching of communication between the “other” display structure and one or another of the daytime, nighttime and thermal imagers.

摘要: A plural-mode, plural-receptor surveillance imaging system and methodology which offer very simple, versatile one-handed control over the operations and viewing orientations of three different surveillance imagers, thus to minimize the tasks involved in controlling the specific surveillance views which are established and presented by these imagers. Provided for allowing such control are a one-hand-operable, intuitive touch-screen and joystick controller structure, and a appropriate computer for translating user control actions accurately into changes in system behavior. This one-handedness characteristic promotes an operational environment in which the larger share of a user/operator's attention can successfully be focused on the received surveillance imagery, per se, rather than upon details of operating a control.

摘要: An imaging surveillance system and methodology which employs a nighttime, intensified-light, black-and-white imager. This imager includes a light intensifier which, from a methodologic point of view, and through an appropriate input lens structure, directly gathers available nighttime scene light, and feeds substantially all of this light, after intensification takes place, to a single-CCD-device, black-and-white camera which, in a non-beam-splitting manner converts this received light to a black-and-white video image output data stream. Another way of expressing and visualizing the methodology implemented by the present invention is to think of it, in the context of utilizing a properly deployed light intensifier, as including the steps of (a) creating a light-intensified image which is derived from a non-light-intensified nighttime field of view, and (b) processing that intensified image with an optical-to-electronic imaging instrumentality so as to produce an electronic-data output stream which contains solely achromatic optical image information.

摘要: Structure, methodology and performance involving and utilizing body armor strand material which includes an elongate strand body possessing elongate brittle ceramic surface structure, elongate ductile core structure disposed within that surface structure, and elongate brittle/ductile transition structure operatively interposed and joining the surface and core structures. Methodology includes the steps of preparing a defined mass of elongate ceramic-surfaced, ductile-cored strand elements, each including, along the outside of its length, elongate, sharp-angular edges, and placing that mass in the impact path of such a projectile in a manner whereby edges in the strands face the projectile impact path. Response performance of the invented strand material includes using fragmentation of a surface-hardened ceramic therein to dissipate energy, cutting an impacting projectile into fragments and deflecting those fragments, and telegraphing fragmentation of the ceramic material through a brittle/ductile region in the strand material to a ductile core-region wherein resulting deformation of this core region further dissipates projectile energy.

摘要: A seat structure with two, lateral-side latching-unlatching mechanisms for enabling smoothly operating releasable locking and unlocking actions between a seat-base and an inclinable seat-back hinged to the seat-base in the seat structure. Two interengageable arcs of gear teeth forming part of each mechanism engage and release selectively under rocker-lever seat-occupant control to lock and unlock the seat-back for inclinational fixation and adjustment, and, as determined by tooth-pitch in the arcs, enable positive locking to take place in a large number of specific, small-angular-difference, seat-back inclinations. A floating cross-shaft, and two rocker cams joined thereto, interconnect the two lateral side mechanisms. The seat-base is fully twist-deformable in a catastrophic event replicating a conventional rack-and-roll test without the seat-back becoming unlocked relative to the seat-base.

摘要: Barrier structure for furnishing, selectively and variously, penetration and fire-threat protection on the outside surface of a target structure. The barrier structure includes a high-elastomeric coating having an inner face bonded to such a surface, an exposed outer face, and, within this coating, at least one elastomeric layer region extending to the outer face, and containing an embedded distribution of intumescence elements. Basic variations of this structure include (a) an additional layer region which is formed with elastomeric-material including an embedded distribution of liquid-imbiber beads, and (b) an additional layer region which is formed purely of elastomeric material. The elastomeric material employed, and the embedded liquid-imbiber beads where included, react to liquid petroleum-based substances (1) to imbibe such liquid, (2) to swell in size as a result of such imbibing, and (3) to coagulate into a sticky mass.

摘要: A self-seeking, load-distributing, load-balancing and shock-managing head-engaging system for use inside, and in association with, the shell of a helmet, including (a) a collection of configurationally changeable, shock-absorbing pads removeably and changeably attached/attachable effectively as a variable distribution to the inside of such a shell, and (b) a cinchable, self-seeking/adjusting, self-load-balancing and load distributing chin-strap subsystem operatively associated with the pad distribution, and also attached to the shell. This sub-system is sensitive to the then-particularities of such a pad distribution, and is operable, on cinching of the subsystem through the simple act of pulling on just two strap ends, to stabilize the associated helmet shell on the head of a wearer, with all of the pads in the then-distribution of pads being thereby drawn into proper, defined, shock-managing, load-distributing and load-balancing condition relative to the wearer's head.
